30Aut6
We were recently put onto Valier based 30Aut6, to see what we thought of their tracks. Having formed way back in 2003, the band have already had one hell of a ride, opening for acts such as Saliva, Seven Mary Three, Janus and Vince Neil of Motley Crue – showing the sort of pedigree we’re dealing with here. The chaps were kind enough to send us over a link to some of their tracks so I thought the least we could do would be to check them out and see what we thought, so hit play and prepared myself for what I was about to hear.
As Last Night gets things in motion it’s clear that we’re dealing with a seriously accomplished band here, offering up an opening sound which is packed with power, distortion, funky riffs and melodies. Combining the heavy with this sense of funky melody results in a track which is surely going to get people moving, shaking, and drinking a hell of a lot of beer. Combining the hammering backing riff with a soaring lead line, the mix grows around you and keeps you listening from start to finish – it’s like a walk through of how to put together a rock track. Catchy vocals, pounding bass rhythms, hammering drums, soaring lead lines and power packed riffs – this track has it all – and presents us with a band that we need to be paying a lot more attention to from here onwards!
Moving on to Perfect the tone of distorted yet melodic rock continues, launching full tilt into a track packed full of funky riffs, blues orientated lead lines and an overwhelming sense of live rock music – it’s like hearing the band rather than hearing a studio, something else which stands these guys in damned good stead moving forwards. Catchy once again, this is a track which is going to find its full force on the live scene, the sort of thing which will have people singing along, joining in, and begging for more – definitely a band we need to get over to these shores so I can go and see them for myself!
Closing the selection with Lost Apart we’re shown a softer side of the band to close things, finishing on a ballad and reminding us that sometimes, the softer approach can pack as much of a punch as the heavy approach. Emotionally laden vocals bolster this track to a new level, mixing with the guitars and rhythm section to form a track which is powerful, tugs on the heart strings, and makes you realise there’s a lot more to these guys than they first let on. Soft yet powerful, hard hitting yet restrained, this track is one which stands out, one which has the potential to propel these guys to a new level, and one which I would highly recommend you check out – it’s a track which will convert you and leave you wondering how you hadn’t heard of 30Aut6 before this moment!
Reading through the bio on these guys before beginning the review, I figured we were going to be in for a good thing based on the support slots the guys had secured, but I didn’t expect a sound like this. From start to finish these tracks will keep you listening, make you want more, and show what a band can sound like when they understand what they’re doing. If you’re looking for hard rock with a hell of a catchy edge – you need to check out 30Aut6 – so get on it!
