Alegion
Blaec from Scaramento based Alegion recently got in touch about the band to see what we thought about their music which they’ve got going on. Ever the helpful type, I figured I’d check things out to see what this band who describe themselves as being a brutal partycore/deathcore outfit had on offer!
Opening with Party Monsters it’s immediately clear that this is some pretty intense stuff here. Rolling drums blast outwards at you whilst guttural roaring backs everything up, the hammering riffs keeping the pace whilst a bass heavy rhythm adds an ominous thundering in behind the scenes. Listening to this you can picture the pits which are sure to open up as this band lays this down, the music is quite frankly so intense that entire venues are going to be left as nothing but dust, the throngs of people moving along to the beating rhythm. If you like your music soft and easy going then this isn’t for you, but if like me you love the heavy, then you’re going to love this track! Finishing in the manner it began and keeping you moving until the second it comes to a close, this is a hell of an introduction to a band!
Someone’s Going To Hate You follows up next, once again opening with a dark rolling double bass beat and hammering distorted riff, the entire mix once again taking shape, grabbing you by the face and throwing you head first into a pit of destruction. What’s really striking on this track is just how well put together the sound these guys have got is, it’s well produced yet it manages to capture the pure energy from the band, once again suggesting awesome things for the live scene. My personal favourite part of the track is the slowed down mid-section, the drums almost fade to let the vocals and guitars take the lead, the whole mix once again becoming so bass heavy that it will simply destroy your speakers – or at least overload them like it did to mine!
Final track The Realization closes the selection of tracks on the bands FB page, once again smashing you in the face then making you thank them for the privilege of it! Opening once more with some hammering double bass, a good dose of distorted riffs and a teaspoon of roaring vocals, this is a recipe which these guys fully understand and know how to do it well! This is probably my personal favourite from the selection of tracks on the bands FB page, there’s something about the pace at which it hurtles onwards at which you can’t help but be drawn in to, offering up different timings at times to make sure you’re interested. This track also features one of the heaviest break downs I’ve come across in an age, you too will find yourself roaring ‘you fucking bitch’ and then throwing down where ever you are!
Alegion have caught me a little off guard here, and I don’t know why! I knew I was in for heavy with these guys but I didn’t expect this heavy….but it’s so so good to hear! Think Bury Your Dead (House of Straw style) and you’re getting somewhere close to the sound these guys have got, but these guys seem more intense and more raw! What they need to do this year is get over here and get on tour, because if you put these guys on a bill with the likes of Envy The Fallen or similar and you’re going to have one epic tour going on!
