All Hail
To South Jersey now to check out Hardcore band All Hail. Simply saying that their interests are writing music, playing shows and getting fans, this 4 piece unit don’t give away a lot about themselves, other than saying they formed in 2011 and play hardcore music. As always in these situations, I figured I’d check out the music and let it do all of the talking that’s needed!
Opening with Apex there’s an immediate hit of drums, the powerful rolling bass taking the lead before we’re launched into a pit of roaring vocals, hammering guitar lines and a roving bass. Throwing in breakdown after breakdown to keep the track heavy, this is music which is going to take a live venue, wrap it around the bands little finger and leave it as nothing but a crumbled pile of dust. Despite the all out power, there’s also a sense of melody to the backing music, adding in lead snippets to keep this moving and constantly pushing the boundaries of their chosen style of music. As an opening track and an introduction to a band this does one thing damned well, makes me want to check out what else is on offer!
Moving on to Jive-Turkey the unrelenting aural assault continues, this time opening slower but retaining that heavy edge which makes this so appealing. Keeping things slow, the heaviness and power is almost accentuated as the track builds around you, different elements coming in to bolster the track further and the distorted power continuing to grow in aggression, power and destruction. Despite the initial slow moments, things soon resume their frantic and high paced approach, turning this once more into a track which is going to get circles moving and people throwing down. Knowledge follows much the same sort of recipe, once again opening with a slow and sludgy beat before growing in power and size around you. The power of the track is once again the real show stealer, continuing to add in aggression and distortion where ever you look and once again crafting a track which is going to destroy the live circuit. The drums are quite frankly stunning on this track, somehow sounding powerful and intricate at the same time. The highlight though has to be the broken down section midway through when everything simply becomes insane, it’s a brave move and one which is going to convert anyone who had any doubts.
Closing with Low Life there’s one last chance to bear witness to what a band can do when they figure out what their sound is, throwing down for one last moment of sheer aggressive power. Once again the power is coupled with a sense of melody and rhythm, keeping a pace which is going to get people moving and not letting you go until the band is well and truly ready to be finished with you. As the track came to a close there was one thought left in my mind, how can we get these guys over to the UK?
All Hail don’t need fancy bios or huge write ups as simply, their music does all the talking that’s needed for them! The power and aggression which is harnessed within the music is what is going to sit you back and make you think, the sort of thing which renews your faith in the music scene and makes you realise that there are new bands coming through that are going to kill! Personally, I can’t wait to see how they follow this on, it promises to be insane!
