All She Wrote
Garry from SAN recently dropped us a line about All She Wrote, and their new single Weathered, to see what we thought of things. Bursting straight out of London, this heavy alt-rock unit draw influence from the likes of Bring Me The Horizon, Young Guns and The Blackout, hammering out their own unique take on alt rock to show us how it should be done. Despite only being a young band, the guys are already out there selling their wares and showing what they’re capable of, so we thought it only right that we check things out to see what’s going on!
Opening with a guitar line which draws you in to listen harder, the track soon gets going and shows how the band are capable of combining melodic hooks with driving rhythms, the track forming into something which immediately gets you listening and wanting to know what’s coming next. Melodic throughout, this is a track which incorporates distortion in order to accentuate the rest of the track, not sounding over done or containing anything which shouldn’t be there, it’s a straight down the line approach to creating alternative rock, and one which the guys do with aplomb. Despite this straight forward approach, there are moments here which will keep you listening, not giving away what’s going to come next but letting you know that whatever it is, it’s damned refreshing to hear.
Personally, I really like the approach that All She Wrote have gone for as it shows off a band who aren’t afraid to stamp their own style onto things, taking a genre we thought we knew and showing how it can be changed to cater for a new approach. Throughout the track we’re shown how melody can sound powerful, how heavy can sound melodic, and how we All She Wrote are going to get a hell of a lot of people on side – definitely a band to look out for!
