Ashes Of Her Memory - NEW STUFF!
We featured Ashes Of Her Memory a while back, so when they got in touch about a couple of new tracks, I jumped at the chance to check out what was on offer. Hammering out a sound akin to the likes of Black Veil Brides and Avenged Sevenfold amongst others, this is a band who are primed to get the recognition they deserve, so what of the tracks?
Raging Roses brings back all the memories of the first time we checked these guys out, opening with a hammering guitar line and pounding rhythm section to craft a sound which is sure to get you moving along. The guys have once again managed to balance a sense of melody with a sense of power, meaning that throughout the track you can hear exactly what’s going on and how they’ve put it all together. Urgent vocals come in to elevate the track, forging a sound which is powerful, upbeat and in some ways, catchy, but still managing to keep that sense of originality flowing through things. Alternating the singing with roaring, the guys have managed to craft a sound which is heavy and powerful, yet accessible and the sort of thing you can well imagine seeing on the live scene.
Moving on to Pull The Trigger we’re once again thrown straight into a hammering melee of bass heavy rhythms, the sound immediately grabbing your attention and pulling you into the mix. Hammering through the track at break neck speed, we’re thrown element after element to keep us involved, from soaring lead lines through to hooky vocals and hammering bass rhythms, the mix sounding heavy yet once again, catchy. Personally I prefer this track out of the two, there’s just a real sense of power flowing out of the track, the sort of thing which is going to get you down to watch them live, and the sort of thing which you know is going to go down well at a show!
Once again, Ashes Of Her Memory have proven that they understand their music, understand how to write songs, and are able to produce the goods when it comes to recording. Throughout these two tracks we’ve been shown why we should all be sitting up and taking note – so get on and check them out!

Ashes Of Her Memory
We were recently contacted by melodic metalcore/alternative/pop-punk unit Ashes Of Her Memory, to see what we thought about their music. Drawing influence from the likes of A7X, Bullet For MY Valentine, Tool and Children Of Bodom, I was looking forward to seeing what this 5 piece were coming up with.
Opening with Changes, the band get things off to an ominous and electrifying start, combining elements of electronic with hard hitting guitar lines, forming a sound which is impossible to pigeon hole into a specific genre. Catchy, powerful and akin to the likes of Black Veil Brides, the sound of Ashes Of Her Memory is one which roves between metalcore and stadium rock, throwing out lines which will appeal to fans of both sides of the spectrum. Pumping guitar riffs, soaring lead snippets, powerful drums, gravelly vocals – this track has everything you could possibly want from a band, and it’s awesome to hear. As an introduction to a band this is one hell of a track, and my only issue with it is the slight mixing error midway through – the vocals in the middle section are too high in the mix – but it’s such a minor error that to be honest, it can be ignored.
Moving into The Time Of Giving Up, the theme of pumping rock tracks continues, this time layering a roar over a rolling drum section and combining it with more raucous guitar work to pull you in from the off. Once again showing that these guys have got their own approach to things, the sound of this track is one which will hook you in, make you listen and make you wish they could get over here to play live – if they can pull this off live then they’re one hell of a band to look out for! Closing with Words I’ve Written there’s one last chance to see what a band can do when they set their mind to it, crafting one final track of sheer genius to close the selection off. Once again combining pumping guitar work with soaring vocal lines and pounding drums, it’s like the band have managed to capture energy and turned it into a musical form – in short, this is a band to look out for.
I like Ashes Of Her Memory purely because their music is so damned easy to listen to. Sure, there’s going to be people who say that the hay day of this music is now gone, but personally I think that given the right band, it could well come back. Either way, Ashes Of Her Memory are one of those bands that are going to generate a following, get people involved, and remind you what it’s like to hear new and exciting music for the first time.
