Belligerence
We were recently given a sneak peak of what to expect from the new album from Belligerence, due to be released in April of 2012. Having already played the likes of Hammerfest, Hard Rock Hell, Download and had their new album produced by Justin Hill of Sikth, this is a band who you need to be aware of, and need to check out! We were sent through a little teaser video to check out so I thought I’d better see what was going on with their stuff.
Martyrs is the first track to be released from their upcoming album, and boy does it suggest good things. Heavy yet melodic from the off, a lead line greets you before you’re grabbed by the neck and thrown into a heavy assed riff to really get things moving. Sounding almost Southern Rock style at times, the track seems to almost build around you before launching into a fast paced mix of guitars, bass, hammering drum lines and powerful vocal lines. Crafting a track which is well developed and written from the outset, what you’ve got here is a demonstrating of what a band can produce when they put their mind to it, incorporating every element of the band and making them clear to hear throughout. Raw and powerful, melodic and refined, all working well to keep everything going and to demonstrate why they’ve received the acclaim they have, this is a hell of an insight into the new album and shows exactly why you need to get hold of it.
It’s always hard to judge an album on one track (hint hint hint…) but this track certainly suggests that we’re going to be in for a treat. This is a band who have worked to develop their sound, thought about their ideas and ended up with one hell of a track, a track which works on CD and will absolutely slay on the live scene. All I’m really left to say is more please…and I can’t wait too long!
