Beretta Suicide
Beretta Suicide from Leeds
got in touch about some music which they’ve put together which they thought we
might like. Always looking for more music to listen to, I’ve cranked it on to
see what I thought of it!
Another Wolf in the Wings opens with crunchy guitars, slamming drums and bass all backed up by roaring vocals. The funky edge to this track had me tapping my feet along within seconds of it starting, it echoes classic rock n roll but with a modern twist added to bring it into the 21st Century. Building up to an all out aural assault towards the end of the track, this is one which you’ll play over and over again.
…Go Slow opens slower than the last track, the vocals being simply carried along by the bass line before the drums and lead line come in. Once they kick in though this track really picks up the pace, completely contrasting the way it began using dual vocals, hammering drum beats but simple riffs keeping the song simple yet effective. As the track ends and They Said kicks in, I found myself wondering how the band was going to live up to what had come before, yet they manage it. They Said returns to the almost funky edge with slower broken down choruses featuring catchy riffs and layered vocals, a few listens and you’ll be singing along as well.
Get Low takes on a darker tone, mainly down to the guitar line over the drums, it adds a darkness which the tracks so far haven’t had, but maintains the head nodding edge which has pushed all of them forwards so far. The chorus is once again catchy with catchy riffs over simple drums, again keeping the track simple and to the point. So Gentle is yet another track which live will be a real crowd pleaser (even if it’s a Demo), featuring almost GnR style riffs underpinned with lead lines and catchy vocals. This track is my personal favourite from the selection as it reminds me of those days kicking back listening to Appetite, it’s got that same approach to the track which will make it popular with anyone who hears it.
Gotta Be Good and This Thing We’re In, finishing the selection of tracks from the band. Both tracks again feature the catchy undertones I’ve come to expect from this band so far, songs where you will be singing along to the chorus after a few listens. Focusing on a solid rhythm section and crunchy guitars, the last two tracks finish the selection in the same way as it started, funky, crunchy and catchy.
I like Beretta Suicide a lot, they’re one of those bands who only come about every now and then but when they do, you can’t help but sit up and listen to what it is they’ve got to say. Their music is catchy and easy going yet crunchy enough to satisfy that need for distortion. I fully expect to see more of these guys doing really well, and hope that they maintain the sound they’ve gone for so far because it’s a winning approach.
In summary – more please.
