Beyond All Ends
A while back we featured a review of Ruins Of Alph, a band based around some damned awesome guitar work! Now though, they’ve contacted me about Beyond All Ends, a heavier band featuring some of their members. Always intrigued by music I thought I’d give it a go to see what it’s all about!
In Stasis Of The Mind reveals straight off what we’re in for – this is no holds barred heaviness! Opening sludgy and distorted and continuing on that route throughout this is speedy, heavy, raw and in your face. Spat vocals come across, layered over insanely distorted guitars, rolling drums and bass heavy melodies – there’s a lot going on to take in! Breaking down midway through just to make sure it’s heavy enough this is a track which pulls your face off then spits in your eye sockets to make sure you’re paying attention and on board. Alternating between speedy sections and more broken down areas the track ploughs ever onwards towards the end, pausing into a more melodic section ¾ of the way through to add in some roared vocals and downright dirty guitar licks. As the track ends you’ll find yourself sitting back thinking ‘jesus, that was immense!’
The Essence of Being follows on, opening darker than the previous track, more rolling drums and more guitars all combining to bring back that epic sound. Kicking in fully this track is slow and to the point, heavy and unrelenting without being over the top. As the heaviness builds the speed suddenly kicks in and propels the track onwards, layering the vocals to add extra depth. This is another insanely heavy track yet once again the band manage to somehow keep it melodic throughout, it’s an insane combination which somehow works on numerous levels.
I for one like Beyond All Ends, they’re heavy, dirty, sludgy and to the point. There’s no messing about here, no bullshit, just downright heavy music played damned well. Don’t listen to this if you like softly softly, listen to it and prepare to have your head kicked in!
