Broken Witt Rebels
You may recall us featuring the Broken Witt Rebels a while back when we checked out their track All Worn Out, well, shortly there after, the chaps were kind enough to send us through the other two tracks off of their EP to check out to see what we thought. Given how much we enjoyed hearing the first track, I thought it only right we see what else these guys held in store for us from their EP, This Town Belongs To Me.
No Where Train returns us to the familiar surroundings of the Broken Witt Rebels, kicking in with that signature guitar tone along with the pounding rhythm section, getting things moving from the off. Ushering in the vocals to fully complete the mix, the sound we’re confronted with here is deep, powerful, uplifting and intriguing from the word go, the sort of thing that makes you think whilst you’re enjoying it. Moment after moment pummels you as the track progresses, from parts which sound almost like Estranged by GnR, through to guitar lines which sound almost like Crowded House and synth lines akin to Bon Jovi – comparison after comparison could be drawn but simply wouldn’t do the band justice – this is a sound that’s theirs and theirs alone. Catchy, jumpy and the sort of thing you know you’re going to love on the live scene, it’s hard to pick fault in such a well put together track, so suffice to say you should check it out!
Moving on to Only I the idea of powerful rock centric guitar lines continues, hammering the track into being whilst the backing rhythm sections continues to propel the mix to a new level. Deep and interesting from the word go, this is a track which shows off the more classic roots of the band, offering up a sound which is interesting, vintage and well put together. It’s striking how massive a sound these guys manage to create when the moment requires it, yet at other times can sound soft and intricate without even blinking between the shifts, showing once and for all that the Broken Witt Rebels have a solid understanding of their craft, and are about to break through to some serious attention.
I was blown away when I first checked out the Broken Witt Rebels, and having now heard the rest of the EP, I’m equally as astounded at how accomplished a sound they’ve managed to achieve. Each track on this EP has the potential to be a classic, and as you listen to it the sense of hearing something special is clear. Definitely a band to make sure you check out as soon as you can.

Broken Witt Rebels
Birmingham four piece Broken Witt Rebels recently got in touch to let us know about their track All Worn Out, and the accompanying video, to see what we thought. As a band who state that their motto is ‘up the rebels’, they’ve worked tirelessly to put together their EP, developing, recording and producing it with sound-hub records. Seeing as they’d sent us through a link to check things out, I figured it was about time I had a listen to this self-proclaimed indie/alternative/blues/rock band to see what I thought!
Opening softly before ushering in the bass heavy rhythms and soaring lead lines, the track kicks off from the word go in an upbeat and catchy fashion. Managing to combine their different approaches into one track without allowing the sound to become cluttered or confused, there’s a display on offer of how to craft uplifting and easy going music without allowing distractions to take away from the mix on offer. As the vocals lead us through the track by the hand, guitar lines fade in and out, offering insights into the ability of the band in question, all backed up by the thundering drum line and bass mix, keeping things interesting and diverse throughout. Building to a crescendo to close the track, packed to the rafters with lead lines, heavy bass rhythms and those awesome vocal lines, this track presents us with a new band for consideration, and a band who I think we’re going to be hearing a hell of a lot more from in the very near future.
I didn’t know what to expect from Broken Witt Rebels when they got in touch, but as soon as I hit play on the video I knew that this was a band I was going to thoroughly enjoy checking out. From start to finish we’re shown how able they are with their instruments, how well crafted and produced the track is, and how catchy proper blues style rock can sound when it’s done well. Definitely a band I’ll be looking forward to hearing a hell of a lot more from, make sure you check them out.
