Cardio Kazan
Cardio Kazan were another band sent to us via the Inner Light Agency. Stemming from San Diego these guys are creating their own blend of Rock, Hardcore and Punk which is growing more and more popular in the US. As such, I thought it about time we checked them out and got their name out over here!
In Slow Motion opens with eerie Ice Cream Van music before a melodic piano section, then all hell breaks lose! Kicking into some of the fastest drums I’ve heard in a while, this track suddenly takes form, melodic vocals taking the lead over some insane music before kicking in with some roaring, then a dual chorus line – what a way to kick off! The combination of different layers of vocals combine to form a sound which is both heavy yet emotionally moving, chanting that they must move on and continuing on their epic journey. This track is one of the best opening tracks I’ve heard, combining so many elements can sometimes cause a bit of a jumble, but these guys seem to have pulled it off and created something heavy, emotional, clean and yet raw all rolled into one. As the track finishes on one hell of a break down you’re left thinking..jesus…and that was just the first track!
Second track Saturate the Gamma opens heavier than the last track, guitars riffing all over the place, drums rolling around to back them up, the bass pounding along to keep pace and the vocals roaring. Soon enough those contrasts which were so successful in the last track come in offering up screaming and melodic singing to create a massive sound. Catchy once the chorus kicks in, this track is sure to be an amazing live track, you can picture the crowd moving and then chanting along with the band, this band have to be a must on the live scene. Relentless up until the final second of the track, this track is an example of how a band can take two styles of music, combine them and create their own unique sound.
Final track Incendiary opens with an soaring lead line underpinned by those rolling drums and solid guitars once again before kicking in with the dual vocals. More complex at times than the previous tracks, I think this is my favourite from the selection as it demonstrates the bands ability to create a track which is incredibly melodic and yet incredibly heavy all at the same time. Amazingly well produced from the outset, this is a track which you’ll return to over and over again just to make sure you didn’t imagine hearing it.
I consider myself to be a fully converted fan of Cardio Kazan, they’ve got so many elements I like in their music and I hope to hear a lot more from them. Their sound is one which is unique to them, taking elements of other bands on the scene and turning them into something new and unheard, a band which can control your emotions whilst smashing your face in with some roaring guitars! I suppose all I’m left with is to say more please!
