Circle Of Rage - Rage In D Minor
London based Circle Of Rage have sent us a copy of their brand new album Rage In D-Minor. Describing themselves as brutally honesty through heavy music and I think this statement matches their music perfectly.
The album starts of with Beyond The Barricades which was a great way to kick off the album and gave me an instinct to what the band were all about. It was like an icebreaker for the band's music and if you have not listened to this band before Beyond The Barricades is the one to listen to.
It smoothly transforms into the next track on the album which is Unnatural Selection; this title of the track matches the song perfectly as there a bizzare yet effective arrangement of brutally harsh vocals, thunderous drums and riffing guitars. As described before by us this track moves through different selections and it creates a mix of Unnatural Selection of music. Whilst listening to this track I did feel myself gently headbanging along to the music and imagining a scene where this song is performed live with the crowd moving along to the music.
This album has some indents of guitar solos, pounding drums and a solid bass line to break up the songs; I found this to be effective in the sense that it kept the album running smoothly as the transitions between the tracks were smooth. Throughout the album you can hear influence System Of A Down and Bullet For My Valentine which are two very solid influences. They could possibly be next in line to play at Bloodstock.
Overall a pretty descent album that could possibly be the next brutal thing on the shelf.
For fans of System Of A Down and Mastodon

Circle of Rage
London based Circle of Rage got in touch about their music to see what we thought of it. Describing themselves as politically motivated melodic hardcore music, this was a band I was really looking forward to hearing as it sounded like something which was right up my street. I wasn’t disappointed by the two tracks on their FB page.
Unnatural Selection opens with pounding drums, riffing guitars and roaring vocals, this track is a no holds barred assault on your ear drums. Underpinned by a solid bass line, the track seems to move through different sections, using all of the elements of the bands to create a mix, all of which combine to form this monster which we’re left with. Harmonic yet heavy throughout, this track is one which I imagine live will have the crowd moving in time with the band. I found myself struck by the level of musicianship throughout this track, there’s some serious lead lines going on along with the rolling drums, in all this is a pretty awesome example of what the band are capable of. The ending of the track is particularly noteworthy, breaking down the elements of the band to create this heavy, slow sound which reverberates around the room.
Society’s Secret opens up with those heavy guitars again, using some effects to add to the depth of the track before bringing in a couple of pinch harmonics just to make sure the listener is paying attention. Once again led by the roaring vocals, this track is another example of what this band can do, seeming to draw influence from earlier metal, the harmony behind the vocal line is quite incredible. Throughout this track I found myself surprised by what the band were throwing at me, it’s like listening to a band who are already established and have a solid recording background behind them, it’s some serious serious music.
Circle of Rage are one of those bands who from the outset I knew I would enjoy. There are so many different elements here which combine to form this quite incredible sound which they’ve achieved. I would highly recommend everyone gets out there and checks these guys out!
