Deception Theory - New Tracks
We featured Deception Theory a while back so were pretty chuffed when they got in touch about a couple of new tracks they’ve been working on. Ever the helpful souls we are at Loud-Stuff, I got on to check out what was on offer!
Opening with Progress it’s clear to see that there has certainly been some within the band, opening with a hammering riff before descending into a pit of pure devastation and power. Distorted and raw from the off, the fast paced melee which ensues is testament to the bands hard work and dedication, forming a sound which is not only heavy but technically advanced and exciting, keeping the listener going throughout the track. Screaming vocals seem to echo around as the track progresses, firmly setting the pace and tone on the side of heavy and keeping the track moving throughout, it’s a mix which is going to leave live venues as nothing but dust by the time the band have finished with them.
Moving on to Wubanger there’s another smash in the face with a force of devastation, a hammering guitar tone leading the way into another track which is quite simply face melting. Distorted and chaotic from the off, the hammering undertones of this track continue to push the boundaries of power and heavy, creating a sound which combines heavy and melody, continuing to push the boundaries of what metal bands can do and forming their sound into one which they can firmly call their own. Incorporating elements of metal core and similar, this is a track which once again stands out, showing off the skills of a band who have been working to develop themselves and have achieved the sound they were working towards.
I liked Deception Theory when I first heard them, but this new stuff shows that they’re approaching a whole new level of things. Their music is continuing to push boundaries and create new avenues for the band to explore, and I for one can’t wait to see where the band go next from here!

Deception Theory
Staten Island based Deception Theory were kind enough to get in touch to see whether there was some way we could feature some of their music on the site, so being the nice chap I am, I of course obliged and set about having a listen!
Opening with Resistance the band immediately set the peg at where they are – heavy, unrelenting and able to produce some pretty damned awesome riffs! Pounding drums take the background whilst the riffs take the lead on the track, powering onwards and creating a sound which is simply massive. Suddenly the screaming vocals kick in and the true tone of the track is set, this is serious in your face metal going on here and there’s no escape. The insane guitar work continues ever onwards creating a mash up of riffs, pinch harmonics and solid power whilst the drums continue to power the entire track through your ears and into your soul. Heavy from the outset and not relenting right up to the end, this is a band who have got a point to make and are going to force you to sit down and listen whilst they make it.
Hookers In Hummers (I love this track name!) follows on, opening a little more softly than before as it builds into the track. Eerie slowed down vocals echo around the headset as the track fades in creating an ominous sense, something is coming, but what? Then just after the 1 minute mark, it kicks in. Solid sludgy riffs power the track into being all backed by those rolling drums once again. The vocals once again steal the show, combining screaming with guttural roaring whilst chucking in lead lines behind everything to make sure you’re paying attention. Melodic whilst face-meltingly heavy, this track is enough to blow your head off then still make you put it back together to hear more – it’s not for those out there who like softer music but if you like it heavy like I do, you’ll love this.
Deception Theory caught me off guard here as I don’t really know what I was expecting, but what I found was good. Their music is quite simply insanely heavy yet melodic throughout, creating a mash which at first you’re not sure you believe, but after a few listens realise is actually something pretty damned awesome. I’ll look forward to hearing more from these guys as I think there’s good things to come from them!
