From Afar
So we were recently contacted by Rzeszów based From Afar, to see what we thought of their new track, Jacob’s Ladder. Now…..normally I try to do some research into a band to find out where they’re from, what they do and a bit about them….but unfortunately, their page is in what I can only assume is Polish, and I don’t speak Polish…..so I’ve got no idea what they’re saying! So…..I’m going to say that this Polish Band are clearly already producing music, so I thought I’d better check the track out!
Accompanying a video featuring computer graphics as well as the band themselves, this track gets off to a promising start featuring hard hitting riffs, intricate lead lines and a powerful vocal line, kicking into a funk fuelled melee of different elements, there’s one thing for sure from the off – these guys know what they’re doing. Combining soft with hard resulting in a track which harks back to the hey-day of nu-metal, the band seem to have taken the genre with an intention of bringing it back – and based on their sound they might just pull it off! Melodic, powerful, distorted and straight to the point, this is a track which harks back to the glory days of Korn, the moments where the music did all of the talking and there was no faffing about. Hammering through the track and showing that this is a band we need to be keeping an eye on, I was left with no doubt that this is a group I want to hear more from.
I’ve been struck by From Afar as their sound is taking something which has already been done, and making it new and their own. Despite the track only being 4:57 long I feel like I’ve had an education, and look forward to hearing more from these guys in the very near future!
