In Clear Sight
Garry from SAN PR recently got in touch to send us through a copy of Fuck Fairytales, This Is Reality, the debut album from In Clear Sight. Due for release on the 30th of July this year, the band have drawn influence from the likes of Terror and Wall Of Jericho to craft their own, abrasive sound which is going to serious gun for your attention. Formed in 2010in Antwerp, this Belgian crew are out for world domination, so what of their music?
Ushering in the album with an Intro track, immediately there’s a suggestion that what is going to follow is going to be pretty damned heavy, strange echoing rumbles of raw power coming through and luring you in to hear more. As the blistering riff and drum beat comes in to really get things going you’ve no choice but to embrace what’s going on and just run with it, the all out powerful mix just smashing its way out of the stereo and getting you firmly involved. If we thought that was heavy then its Divinity which seals the deal, launching us into a rolling melee of hammering drums, roving guitar lines, spat out vocal lines and rumbling, ominous bass lines. This is a track which is perfectly crafted for a live venue, presenting a track which is going to get pits circling, people going mental and everyone firmly converted to the ways of the band.
Back In The Day begins with a dedication over an almost nu-metal guitar line, but all of this leaves and we’re left with a solid riff once again to keep those pits going. Sounding like a more modern version of Hatebreed in some ways, the sound these guys have gone for is quite simply heavy, opting to keep things slower and allowing the raw power of the track to do all of the talking that’s needed. If you’re looking for a track which is going to renew your faith in metal, then this could well be it! Big Boy seems to take this idea though and multiply it even further, moving away from the slow and throwing us into a fast moving pit of all out destruction. Once again a track which is going to reveal its true power on the live scene, this is a moment on the album which I would highly advise you check out. The same can be said for We Count You Out, another track which is quite simply mind blowing. The sludgy power of the guitars serves to make this a track which is going to get you banging your head and stamping your feet where ever you are when you hear it – this is a track which I have to see on the live scene just to make sure I’m not imagining how seriously heavy this is!
Silence is anything but what the name suggests, first off luring us into a softened acoustic line accompanied by a soothing violin line before once again pulling back in the big guns and launching us into an insanely powerful track. Despite the raw power behind this track, the overall sense of melody is clear, a lead line flowing naturally through things and a soft piano line backing everything up, almost giving it even more power as it grows around you. There’s no vocals on this track yet somehow, this stands out as a moment on this album which you have to hear, it’s such a well written track. Struggle For Life follows directly on and returns us to the world of destruction from these guys, once again treating us to a fast paced melee of hammering guitar lines and rolling drums. Once again harking back to the likes of Hatebreed, this is another track which is sure to get the pits moving and everyone baying for blood.
Closing the album with Crucial Pain there’s one last chance to behold the almighty power that these guys seem to be able to wield. The guitar tone they’ve achieved may well be high on the mid and treble, yet the all out distortion transforms it into a force which is going to leave venues as nothing but dust. Combine this with the spat vocal line and hammering drum lines and what you’ve got is one final hurrah which is surely going to convince anyone who had any inkling of doubt remaining.
In Clear Sight are one hell of a band, and best of all they’re producing the sort of metal which is perfect for the live scene. I’m a huge fan of Hatebreed so when I saw the comparison on their one sheet I was a little nervous, but I think these guys seem to have done it justice personally. If you’re looking for a band that’s going to remind you of why you started listening to metal, why you want to go out to gigs and why your speakers go up to the volume that they do, then this is them – get on it!
