Kiss
Who hasn’t heard of Kiss? I mean, there’s your big rock bands, then there’s Kiss on top of them all, a band that most of us know, have heard at least 1 track by, and are no doubt aware of their stage presence and make up. Kiss are one of those bands I’ve never seen live but have always wanted to, they’ve got that classic rock approach with a glammed up appearance that you know is going to give you a hell of a good time at a show! Now, we were put onto two new tracks from the band to check out from their new album, Monster, so who were we to say no to such an awesome opportunity?!
Long Way Down gets things going in the manner you’d expect, hammering into a guitar fuelled melee of hammering elements and presenting us with that classic, signature Kiss sound. Powerful drums and bass back up the hammering guitar line and soaring vocals, the whole mix forming into something which is designed to get you dancing, moving and loving every second of it. No Kiss track would be complete without a serious dose of attitude and this is no exception, oozing with glamour and attitude from the word go and offering up a track which sounds anthemic even on first listen. Classic rock vibes, power metal styles and guitar solos which will leave you drooling but grinning from ear to ear, there’s not a lot of fault to be picked in this track as quite simply, it’s a track that you’re going to come back to time and time again and love every time you hear it.
All For The Love Of Rock & Roll continues the style we know and love, this time breaking things down to a Southern Rock style opening, still exuding that Kiss style but at the same time sound more modern, updated and fresh. Funky and seriously orientated around a sense of good old rock n roll, this is a track which will make you want to get out to a show, drink some beer and dance along from start to finish, it’s impossible to sit still to the track. I guess there’s people that would say that this is the conventional Kiss sound but to be honest, that’s what makes it so appealing, it’s a trip down memory lane and the sort of track you’re going to come back to time and time again.
Monster is looking like one hell of an album based on the two tracks on offer here, each one showing that Kiss are still alive and well, and still producing rock music which shows the younger generation how it should be done. I for one will be getting my hands on a copy of the full album as soon as possible, and would highly advise you to do the same – so get on it!
