Lower Lands - Socialise With Closed Eyes
Dave from I Am Mighty Records dropped us a line the other day to let us know about the latest video single from Lower Lands, an alternative rock band who have already achieved a hell of a lot in their short time together. Having shared bills with the likes of Deaf Havana and already received coverage on the likes of Kerrang! Magazine, NME.com and Front Magazine, this is a band that are preparing to step up to a whole new level. Seeing as they are already achieving so much, I thought it only right we see what was going on for ourselves, so hit play on their latest single, Socialise With Closed Eyes.
The song itself is a letter to a someone who stopped being a friend because they let things in life get on top of them, and they stopped listening to others around them and instead, opted to pity themselves . From the opening moments of the track this becomes clear, opening with a raucous guitar line which leads the way into the track beginning fully, throwing down with lyrics designed to hit home and convey the message from the band. Catchy, hooky and powerful throughout, this is a track which might hold a powerful message, yet doesn’t get bogged down in trying to tell the story, instead allowing the combination of upbeat powerful music and strong vocals to do all the work for them. Couple this message with a real sense that this is going to be a quality track to behold on the live front and you’ve got a winner, definitely a track to be checking out.
There’s something about Socialise With Closed Eyes and Lower Lands which really stands out to me, something which makes me want to hear a lot more from them. The video which accompanies the track has a humorous edge meaning you can watch it, enjoy it, and still manage to take on board the message from the band about how not to be a friend to other people. Check out the video below for yourself and I’m sure you’ll agree, this is a band we should all be taking note of, and one which I think has a long future ahead of them.
