Of The Night
A five piece band alternative rock band from Nottingham, who write their own songs, with a few covers thrown in for good measure. The band is influenced by greats such as Biffy Clyro, Paramore and Elbow. With lots of gigs lined up this year, I think Of The Night is one to look out for.
Nightmares is the newest track that the band brought our attention to here at Loud-Stuff. I was looking forward to hearing this band as I’m a huge fan of Alternative Rock and Biffy Clyro are also favourite band of mine so was more than a little interested as to what I’d get. The track opens to a catchy and punchy guitar solo, with an addictive tapping on the drum just tapping away. The tempo is pretty standard for a track of this genre and slows as the vocals start, it took me a while to remember what band this reminded me of and suddenly it hit me.... The Automatic. Building up to the chorus the addictive drum beat comes back and the lead vocals are complimented well by a softer female voice. I liked this track because they do the simple things well, rather than try to complicate things. Also the kind of choir like backing singers towards the end was a fine touch.
This band were right up my street and I think they did a good job. Would like to see if they could perhaps go a little heavier, just maybe to throw some variations around.
