Panacea Dream
James, previously of Heat Seeker, recently dropped me a line letting me know about a new project that he’s part of called Panacea Dream. Describing themselves as alternative/rock/progressive, this unsigned, Birmingham based unit fuse dark melodies and intensity into a unique and compelling blend of alternative and progressive rock – which sounds pretty cool to me! James pointed me in the direction of their track Adrenaline, to see what I thought of things, so I hit play and prepared myself for what I was about to hear!
Kicking into being with a dark and sludgy guitar line, the track immediately grabs your attention, pulling you in and getting you involved with the upbeat and distorted mix. Powerful from the word go, this track seems to build as it plays out, incorporating new elements with each step from pounding rhythms through to intricate lead lines, keeping the mix at a level where everything can be heard and the whole time, pushing forwards their sound. It’s impossible to resist the sound that they’ve achieved here as simply, it’s the sort of thing which is going to get you moving, jumping, singing along and begging for more. Imagine a cross between solid alternative rock and serious progressive metal, and you’re starting to get somewhere close here, it’s a mix which will appeal to fans of the heavy, fans of the interesting, and fans of damned good music – one to get out there and check out.
It’s always interesting seeing how members move from one band to another, but my advice to James and Dodge would be to stick it here, this is a band that works, understands their songs, and can write tracks which people are going to love listening to. This is another band to add to my list of bands to see this year, and one I would highly recommend you check out for yourself.
