Possibly Intoxicated Gents
Possibly Intoxicated Gents are garage rockers from Dublin, Ireland. It was a pleasure listening to them on the way back from my holiday. There have been a lot of success stories regarding music from Dublin such as U2, Thin Lizzy and Skid Row. Possibly Intoxicated Gents could be another success story from Dublin.
The EP opened with Magic Bag. The song gave of a feel good vibe that you get before the start of a summer holiday. I think it is definitely a summer track that would be a hit at festivals during the summer time particularly Reading/Leeds in the near future. This bouncy, upbeat track was definitely an indication of what was to come up on the rest of the EP.
The next song Secondhand Fun was my personal favourite on the EP. It is the kind of song everyone can dance to, rock out to at gigs etc. I don't think it's the kind of song you can sit down and listen to, it was hard to stop myself dancing on the train back today.
Black Rain had the same effect. It is not really a sitting down track. It has a lot of catchy guitar riffs that you could sing along to whilst dancing. This song I can just imagine a lot of sweaty rockers head banging as fast as they can to the FREAK FREAK FREAK part of the song and fast paced melodies.
V.I.P's intro reminded me of a classic AC/DC track. The same epic introduction that most classic rock songs have that gives us an indication of what the rest of the song will contain and in this case the rest of the song was just as epic as the intro.
Overall a fantastic debut from the Irish rockers, I really think that they could go far. Their music definitely has the ability to make you smile and have a little dance. If you're in the mood to rock out then check out these guys.
