Promise Me Tomorrow

We were recently sent through the new mini album from pop punk outfit Promise Me Tomorrow to see what we thought. Always on the look out for new and exciting bands we figured that it would be only fair to check these guys out to see what’s on offer! Having already supported the likes of Army Of Freshmen, and with the mini album due out on the 23rd of January, this is a band you need to get out there and check out.
Opening with More Then You Know you’re thrust into a world of catchy hooks, soaring guitars and powerful drum lines, all of which come together behind a clean yet fitting vocal line – the whole mix isn’t heavy but instead something you can connect with and really get into. Catchy and big from start to finish, this is a track which really makes you want to get out there and have fun, it’s inoffensive music which is easily accessible and fits perfectly with having a good time. I imagine this track works well on the live scene as well, it’s the sort of track which audiences embrace and chant along to – well worth a listen to and a pretty awesome opening to an album! Catchy and emotionally charged up until the second it ends, this is a track which really promises a lot for what’s to come!
Knock-backs and Heart-attacks follows on at number 2 and follows much the same recipe as before, opening with a sludgy guitar lick which is powered onwards by a rolling drum beat whilst the emotional vocals really lead the way, the mix you end up with is big, catchy and the sort of music which suits pretty much any situation. What I really like is how the band have crafted a track which seems to connect with anyone – everyone I’ve played this track to has really liked it despite their own personal musical tastes. Go Get ‘Em Kid follows on, opening far punkier than the tracks before through a distorted guitar riff over a powerful drum section, the mix created here is one which live scenes will really embrace once again, it’s got all of the elements from catchiness to energy which live crowds will simply lap up. Kicking into another catchy chorus section, this is a track which really encapsulates what the band are capable of, it’s got the raw power and energy whilst keeping that clean appeal which will get these guys so much attention.
You Haven’t Seen The Best Of Me follows on next, opening like a true pop-punk anthem through the different layers of guitars thrown in over the powerful drums. This is a track which is once again inoffensive yet catchy and appealing, it draws you in and makes you listen without coming across as over the top or over produced in any way, it’s a pretty damned awesome track. (The video to this track can be seen below). As the track fades and For All The Wrong Reasons kicks into being, the guitars and drums once again steal the show creating a mix of raw power and harmony, it’s a mix which works well and really pushes this track onwards. Personally, I think this track is probably my personal favourite off of the album, it’s catchy and appealing whilst maintaining that pop-punk edge which gives it the power. This is also a track which after a couple of listens will have you singing along – it’s impossible not to be drawn into it!
All Or Nothing is further testament to this, opening powerful and fast paced, this track is a pure example of why this band are so well received on the live scene, you can’t help but want to chant along with them as they progress through the track. Catchy and emotional once again, the track builds up throughout itself always incorporating new elements such as some gang vocals, a heavier break down and even some screamed vocals at one point – what you’re left with is a demonstration of how these guys can take numerous genres and turn them into a catchy and accessible track. Final track Noone Said It Was Easy finishes proceedings and leaves you with no doubt that this album is going to be well received when it comes out. Another catchy track, this track almost seems to sum everything up to finish it, showing that the band have gone through a journey whilst writing the album and showing those that listen to it just how far they’ve come. As it finished I think there was only one thought going through my head – why are there only 7 tracks!
I really like Promise Me Tomorrow, their music isn’t the normal level of heaviness that I would listen to and maybe that’s half the appeal. Occasionally it’s cool to hear a band like this just to put everything in perspective, and that’s what this album has done. It’s catchy throughout, it’s easy to listen to and the tracks are pretty much all anthems in the waiting. I wouldn’t be surprised to see these guys getting some serious attention once this album is out and look forward to seeing them out there on the live scene, in the mean time, more please!
