Red Jester
I was sent an album by four piece Midlands rock band Red Jester and as I played this album on my laptop, I found it was most certainly the soundtrack to my brilliant summer!
At first listen to the opening track Nasty I am instantly hit by their memorable melodies, relaxed approach to rock yet at the same time ready to start a riot. I can hear similar sounds from albums I grew with in my teenage years, particularly during summer where I would chill out on the train home coming from the beach listening to bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers and Green Day. The albums I am reminded of when I listen to Red Jester is By The Way (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Dookie (Green Day).
I like the very ecletic selection of tracks on the album; from the energetic sounding Punching Bag to the hearltfelt By Your Side this album most certainly has a song for every mood. My personal favourite tracks include Punching Bag, Just Emotions and By Your Side; Punching Bag I can imagine goes down well at their live shows with a rhythm that has the words MOSH PIT and HEADBANGER written all over it, so it will be interesting to see if this assumption is correct. Just Emotions is a fantastic dance rock track that reminds me of rock and roll that I can most certainly see myself dancing to, I personally do love a great rock song that I can dance to if I didn't fancy headbanging. By Your Side brings a much calmer tone to the album and it is a great midway track to sooth an atmosphere before getting back to the bouncy, upbeat tunes. Other highlights include Best Thing and Ridin The Night; Best Thing is very relaxed yet it is something you can snap your fingers or tap your feet to whereas Ridin The Night has brilliant original sounding riffs and an excellent melody.
Closing with the track Rain was the perfect way to end a summer soundtrack; so I can therefore conclude that this album is brilliant. An original selection of melodies and all the brilliant musical elements make this album the perfect rock package to have on your shelf or laptop. You will not be disappointed.
