Seven Deadly - The Allegiance EP
Having featured Seven Deadly before, we were obviously excited when we were sent through a copy of their EP, The Allegiance EP, to check out. Formed from the ashes of Panic Cell, the members of Seven Deadly have shared the stage with the likes of Metallica, Disturbed, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax and Devildriver (amongst others) meaning that this is going to be an EP which you simply cannot afford to miss!
Opening with title track Allegiance there’s no doubt that this is going to be one awesome journey, kicking into a rolling melee of hammering drums, pounding guitar lines and roaring vocals. From the moment the track gets going until it comes to a close there’s no relent, the mix is massively deep and simply takes over everything around you. Combining the roaring vocals with more melodic singing, the mix roves between funky and downright heavy, continuously pushing the bar of what we thought we knew before we hit play on this record. The chorus though is the moment which is going to really stand out to people, launching you into a moment where catchiness combines with power, everything around you fades into the background and you’re simply enveloped in the sound of Seven Deadly coming out at you. It’s striking how well they’ve combined the hard and soft approach, resulting in a track which is going to be embraced as soon as its heard.
Leading into Blood On Your Hands the heavy vibe continues, this time throwing down into an even more intense mix of guitar lines and a pounding rhythm section. Holding the roar which gets things going to fully get you listening, the pace soon picks up and you’re thrust into circle pit territory, unable to resist the beat which these guys have managed to lay down. Once again raising the bar for themselves and their peers, I’m genuinely unable to think of any other word to describe this track other than wow – it’s awesome. End Of All follows on and changes the direction of the EP slightly, this time throwing down into a funky and yet heavy mix, forming the sort of thing which is going to leave the live venues as nothing but dust. Layered vocals, fast guitar work, hammering drums and a deep and powerful bass line all combine and you’re left with another track which certainly shows these guys are going to be a serious force to be reckoned with. This is my personal favourite track from the EP, there’s just something about it which makes me want to get out and see these guys live, it’s got that live feeling without the roughness if that makes sense.
Closing the EP with From This Darkness there’s one last chance to bear witness to the power of Seven Deadly as the band unleash one final moment of sheer genius upon you. Opening with a heavy guitar line underpinned by some rolling drums, the bass heavy mix here is a moment which is going to put these guys up against the most serious contenders on the scene and allow them to hold their own with aplomb. Once again managing to incorporate a sense of catchiness into the mix, the chorus of this track is nothing short of an anthem leaving me with no doubt that anyone who sees them at Download is going to simply walk away thinking wow, that was awesome.
I know that the members of Seven Deadly have had history on the music scene and shared the stage with some pretty massive names, but starting a new project is always going to be a risky move. What they have managed to achieve here though is an EP which showcases just how able they are and just why you’re going to want to hear them. From heavy breakdowns through to serene guitar solos and roaring vocals, the EP has everything you could possibly want – so get out there, get it and realise for yourself that soon enough, this is going to be a household name that we all remember hearing for the first time.

Seven Deadly
With three members of the now defunct band Panic Cell, Seven Deadly are attempting to rise from the ashes of their predecessors. A listen to their debut track ‘From the darkness’ suggests that they’re on their way to this goal, mixing thrash guitars and drums with a melodic groove.
With an opening that builds to a heavy crescendo and stays there for most of the rest of the track, Seven Deadly hit you hard with pounding drums and heavy riffs. But this isn’t just any hard thrash – the rhythm guitar, bass and keyboards combine for a melody that lingers and makes the track more accessible than it may have otherwise been. Vocalist Archie Wilson adds to this, mixing clean lyrics with the occasional growl for a combination that leaves the track catchy and will no doubt have people singing along at live shows.
The overall feel of the track is that of a band with a great deal of promise and an exciting future ahead of them. There’s a powerful energy flowing through the music that makes leaves people wanting more. With a debut EP due in February and tour dates to be announced shortly, this will be a band to look out for.
