Skid Row Interview
1). So guys, thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us – how’s the tour going so far?
The tour has been great! Lots of sold out shows, crazed fans. It’s all very exciting.
2). Has the reception from the UK been what you had expected?
It’s exactly what I expected. The UK has always been so good to us. And the fact that we haven’t been over in awhile added to the excitement.
3). You’ve got the new EP, United World Rebellion Chapter One, coming out over here on the 27th of May – what can we expect from the new EP?
Without sounding cliché, we really reached back to our roots. We had to clear our minds of any outside influence and just write. I’m so proud of the end result. It’s all the aggression you would expect from us. There’s a lot of depth to the mini album. I can’t wait to start chapter two.
4). Are there any tracks that you’ve previewed on the tour which have gone down particularly well?
We’ve played “Kings of Demolition” and “Let’s Go” and they both went over great! It’s a great feeling to play songs that our fans have never heard and watch them go crazy.
5). Any that are particularly special to you guys as a band?
I’ve narrowed it down to 5. Haha.
6). What made you decide to release a series of EP’s rather than a full blown album?
We wanted to keep a steady flow of music out. We figured mini albums were the way to go. We wanted to avoid the information overload affect.
7). The world of metal (and music in general) must have changed a fair bit since 1986, what’s the secret to the longevity of Skid Row?
The secret is loving what you do. Music is my heart and soul. If I ever lost interest in it I would do something else. Making new music is the absolute key to longevity as far as I’m concerned.
8). Do you think that your style has changed and developed over time or remained pretty much as it was at the start?
That’s a tough call. It’s hard to tell if ones style is changing while it’s happening. That being said, we made an effort to rediscover our roots. So we must have changed a bit at some point.
9). With a new EP coming out and the current tour you guys must be pretty busy, what are the plans for the rest of the year other than the rest of the releases?
We plan to tour the world. Tour the world again. Then one more time for good measure.
10). Finally – say something profound that will make everyone think:
If a talk show host appears as a guest on another talk show, isn’t that admitting defeat?
