Suicide Tuesday - Church Of Sin
I like Suicide Tuesday and have done since I first heard them a while back, so when Oz sent through a copy of their new track Church Of Sin, I figured it was only right I see what I could do to get something sorted for them.
Dark and mysterious from the moment it opens, this track is testament to a band who don’t make do when they achieve a certain sound, they evolve it and make it into something new, exciting and fresh – which exactly what you’ve got here. Fast paced and energetic from the word go, you can’t help but get out of your seat and begin strutting around the room to this one, it’s got that classic rock feel whilst still sound new and updated, to put it simply this is downright dirty rock n roll music, and it’s just as awesome as I remember. Oozing power throughout and keeping the production low so that the band is heard, this is a track which is going to slap you about the face with some bass, tickle you with some drums and then blow your mind with a guitar solo before the vocals tell you to stop your whining and get on board.
What you’ve got hear is a track which solidifies Suicide Tuesday as a band which you need to watch out for, their style is one which you won’t be able to resist and before long you’ll find yourself chanting along, strutting around the front room and wanting to be part of the crowd witnessing this live. Personally, I think that this shows a real development from some of their other stuff, but the key thing here is you can tell its them, they’ve managed to create a style and it’s something which you need to be a part of!
Awesome stuff guys – now get back to writing and recording so I can have some more!

Suicide Tuesday
Having already heard a couple of tracks courtesy of Suicide Tuesday, Oz from the band was good enough to drop me a couple of emails with the rest of their tracks on them! As such, and based on my experience of the band so far, I figured it was only right that I have a listen to see what else was on offer!
Opening the selection with Are You Ready, immediately those vibes of old-skool solid rock come flooding back. Pasher enhanced drums power a simple yet effective riff, the whole track taking on an almost funky vibe as it kicks off. Building up through further depth being added, the vocals soon kick in and transport you back to a time of mullets and spandex, the music doing all the talking whilst the vocals are spat out at you to make sure you’re getting the message loud and clear. Before long you find yourself chanting along to ‘are you ready’ and moving along to the beat, this is a track which isn’t designed to get you moshing or the like, it’s there to get you moving.
Dirty Little Thing continues the theme of the other tracks perfectly, opening with a pinch harmonic laden guitar section before launching full tilt onwards with the backing section kicking in with the screaming vocals, the whole mix once again getting you out of your seat and making you move along with what they’ve got to give. Catchy again, this is another track which is going to get you up, get you moving and have you chanting along with the band after a couple of listens. As with a lot of the tracks from Suicide Tuesday, you feel that these are tracks which are meant to be performed on the live scene, whilst the recordings are solid you can’t help but feel there’s a bit of power missing which you would only get on a live stage. As if to prove me wrong though, Down In The Gutter kicks in and changes the whole perspective of the tracks. This one is far more laid back, built over an acoustic guitar line with soothing vocals before building up to those distorted lines once again. The combination of soft and hard comes together to form a track which is not only emotional but also packed with power from the band. I would possibly say this is my personal favourite track from the selection, it works well as both a ballad AND a track you want to get up and move along to.
Falling is another example of a track which opens as if to sooth the soul a little! This time opening with piano lines and a soaring lead guitar line before kicking in with faded vocals behind some synth sounds, the whole mix forming a sort of dark haunting reminiscent section evoking memories of times gone by. Kicking into an emotionally tinged riff, the track takes form and begins to power onwards properly, the vocals remaining soothing throughout as the guitars jump around the necks and create a disjointed yet accessible track. Any lack of power is once again forgotten here, the track packing a heavy punch whilst keeping the beat slow to really hammer home the track. Kicking up a notch for Gun Of Son you’re immediately launched back into the faster paced distorted melee of guitars, bass, drums, vocals and of course, pinch harmonics! This track once again takes you back to the old skool rock which I for one grew up listening to. Keeping the sound almost vintage as the track progresses, this is another track designed for the live scene which is sure to get you moving along to the funky rhythms set out by the band.
Last Time Around soon follows on, opening with another sludgy guitar lick which harks back to the days of Crue, keeping things funky yet simple to create a track which again, you just want to dance to! This is pure drinking beer music in the best sense, you can imagine the track blasting out as you’re watching the guys play and you’re supping on a beer – it’s good time music! Catchy once again, this is another track which I would rank amongst my favourites from the selection and definitely one you need to make sure you check out! As the track comes to a close and R.O.O.T comes into being this vibe continues, this time opening with an almost Van Halen-esque guitar likc and building into another funk tinged track of screeching vocals and pounding bass and drums. The whole track seems to ooze 80’s cock rock as it progresses, luring you in and daring you to enjoy it – which I openly admit I thoroughly have!
Final track Social Handgrenade closes the selection of tracks perfectly for me, it’s a slow and dirty track which is not only distorted and dark but full of soaring guitar lines and screeching vocals. Harking back to the likes of GnR this time, this track is much faster than the others but once again holds all of the power which the band have displayed so far! Coming to a close, my only question was why there aren’t more tracks to listen to – but this is something which I reckon will change!
I can’t wait to see these guys live at the NLC RACPA gig on May 6th, the band seem to have a sound which is perfectly crafted for the live stage and I for one reckon their performance is going to be mind blowing! This music is downright dirty at times, always keeping things catchy and just making you want to move along with what they’re doing – put simply – this band is awesome, check them out!

Another band from Big D of Noize Level Critical here, Suicide Tuesday. Coming straight out of Nottingham, these guys cite some of their influences as the likes of Motley Crue, Ratt, Hanoi Rocks and WASP, which are some pretty big shoes to fill! Never one to suggest that a bands influences will give away their style of music, I was looking forward to checking out what these guys had on offer! There are two tracks on their Facebook page so I took it upon myself to see what they’re like!
Opening with Bittersweet, straight off those influences are thrown out at you to hear. Catchy from the outset, the guitars hark back to all the best stuff of the 80’s, the drums and bass power the whole track and the entire vibe makes you want to don some aviator sunglasses, grow a mullet and get out there for some serious head banging action. The vocals are the real show stealer here though, they’re gravelly enough to remain raw whilst making sure they’re still right there to be heard, this is pure ‘cock rock’ and do you know what, it’s awesome! Throughout the track you’re bombarded by soaring pinch harmonics, hammering riffs, pounding drums, driving bass lines and a solid element of harmony between the whole band as a unit, what you’re left with as an end product is a track which almost sounds familiar yet unique, new and current, it’s quite an accomplishment. Throwing a guitar solo in just to make sure all us guitarists are kept jealous, this track is one which I know I’ll be coming back to again and again – more please!
Cocaine follows on, opening dirty and funky before kicking into a solid riff which is bound to get crowds moving and following, if cocaine could be turned into music I imagine it would sound pretty much like this! Once again kicking into those awesome vocals, the backing music serves to further develop the track into what can only be described as an anthem, this is bound to be a seriously successful track for the band. Catchy once again, this is another example of these guys being able to not only play their instruments but also craft tracks which you’re going to want to hear again and again, just to make sure you don’t miss a single part of each track. Throwing another epic solo into the mix just to make sure they’ve proven their point, as this track comes to a close I guarantee you that you’ll be reaching for the rewind button, just to experience the whole thing all over again!
I’m generally pretty trusting when it comes to the bands Big D sends my way as normally, he gets it pretty spot on. On this occasion, once again, he has proven himself and delivered a band which I’m seriously coming to love. Their music is inoffensive downright awesome rock music which makes you want to move and join in with the band, surely a hallmark of a band who can do what they do incredibly well! Once again all I can really say to close is more please!!
