The Dark and Bleak
Columbus, Ohio are certainly getting a loud yet mysterious awakening call from newest melodic black metal artist The Dark and Bleak.
Haunting choirs, fast paced guitars and amazingly brutal vocals are key elements that are mixed together well to create this album’s spiritual vibe. I really like the eclectic selection of tracks on the album whilst keeping the amazingly brutalness within. There are songs such as Masquerade and Call Of Amadusias have playful yet dark introductions that soon develop into something brutal, which is what I like, and I think works. There are also fast paced songs with speedy guitar riffs, such as Illustious Famine and Prolonged Death, that I can see causing the best mosh pits.
Personal favourite tracks on the album include Masquerade, Aurochs and Call Of Amadusias. The reasons being are that I hear elements of film music within metal music; I can imagine a story forming in my head as I listen to the song, I do like songs that can spark the imagination.
Overall, a fantastic album from The Dark and Bleak. This album gives him a leg up the metal ladder. Can’t wait to hear more!
Stand out tracks: Feared Enigma, Aurochs and Masquerade
For fans of Behemoth and Dimmu Borgir
Find The Dark and Bleak on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube (where this album can be streamed)
