The Room
The Room – Open Fire
Words by Charlotte Whittingham
London based rockers The Room captivate the hearts with their unique and haunting music off their debut album Open Fire.
Kicking off with Flesh and Bone I can instantly detect prog influences within the song via the haunting guitar solos and beautiful vocals from Martin Wilson. I like how some of the tracks start with atmospheric tunes from synthesisers. One of the songs that stood out from that was a song called 16 Tonnes; a beautiful power ballad that really highlights the vocal work and I love the softness, this track is definitely my personal favourite on the album. The album consists of a very versatile collection of music, from the soft 16 Tonnes to the heavy ICU, it shows the band’s potential of having their names on the bills for the biggest arenas and line ups of huge festivals.
I definitely think this is the band to look out for right now, this fantastic debut album is evidence that this is the case.
Stand out tracks: A Casual Believer, 16 Tonnes and A Multitude Of Angels
For fans of: David Bowie and Muse
