The Watermelons
The Watermelons - Better Together
Listening to the brand new EP Better Together by four piece indie pop group The Watermelons from West Sussex, I am reminded of year 10 at secondary school where I first heard indie bands. Sounding almost similar to my favourite indie bands The Kooks and The Zutons it gave me the urge to reminisce about my last two years in secondary school.
The EP starts with uplifting What Do You Want, that is perfect for the Monday morning blues, especially when it is first thing in the morning after the weekend. As the EP continues to play I am constantly reminded of hanging out with my friends from school at a BBQ listening to the kind of music on this EP, as it was popular amongst my friends particularly. My personal favourite on the track is definitely Shooting Star, it's a great uplifting track that definitely makes you feel better and forget reality for those few minutes. I also like how the first EP shows variety in sound so soon, the title track Better Together has a more bluesy sound and opens with a little bit of guitar and clear vocals. It is also a lot slower than the others.
It's early days but I think The Watermelons definitely have potential for the near future, this EP is clear proof that they will go far.
