Thin Lizzy
The 11th of June this year sees the release of a Classic Album Collection, courtesy of none other than rock monsters Thin Lizzy. Presented as mini-LPs and housed in an artistic slipcase, this limited edition box set is the ultimate overview of the bands career, offering you the chance to own:
· Nightlife
· Fighting
· Jailbreak
· Johnny The Fox
· Bad Reputation
· Black Rose
So, all these classic albums, one boxed set, sounds pretty cool already right?
It’s striking when you hear tracks such as Still In Love With You as all of a sudden you find yourself transported to a different place, the music taking over and simply engulfing you in their bluesy and laid back tones. Couple this with the tracks you’d expect such as The Boys Are Back In Town and throughout this collection you’re treated to moment after moment of music which holds a special place in your heart as well as history.
What’s really surprising when you listen through the different tracks is just how many Thin Lizzy tracks you know without knowing it, hits like Rosalie and Don’t Believe A Word coming out and causing that ‘oh yeah’ reaction as they start playing. My personal favourite of the selection though has to be Dancing In The Moonlight, a track which shows off the ‘cool’ side of the band, the bass doing the talking as the funky and laid back tune echoes out of the speakers.
There’s going to be those out there who say that the days of Thin Lizzy have gone, or that this is outdated and forgotten – but to those people I’d say you’re being short sighted. The influence which Thin Lizzy had on music is undeniable, and with each track on each disk of this collection you’re reminded why. This isn’t just a collection which would be perfect for father’s day or something similar, but it’s the sort of thing which will get new fans into the band, remind old fans why they love them and most of all, give you some quality music to listen to!
