Wasted Sinners
London based sleazy rock n roll band Wasted Sinners were good enough to let us know about their music so we thought we’d better have a listen and get something up and posted.
Life Kills opens with a pounding guitar riff and a soaring lead line leading into the vocals, this song is a rock anthem in the waiting. Catchy from the outset, this track powers onwards using layered vocals and riffs which will have you drooling over the keyboard, how I’ve never come across these guys before I don’t know! Chucking a solo into the mix for good measure, this band evidently know how to do what they’re doing, and they do it well! Keeping things simple throughout, this is the sort of track you want to be played in a rock club or at a gig, it’s feel good music which will get people moving along with it and leave you looking forward to the next track. As if the band knew, the next track titled I Want More kicks in to answer my call for more. Opening bassy and sludgy, this track adopts a more broken down approach than the previous, still catchy but keeping things very simple. The pounding drums push ever onwards as the track progresses, driving home the cries of ‘I Want More’ and forcing you to move along to the beat.
One Night returns to the faster pace of the opening track, opening with a soaring riff which will leave you questioning what the hell is going on before kicking in with the pacey vocals. This track harks back to the late 80’s/early 90’s sleaze metal bands musically, using speed to power the track onwards but retaining that catchy edge. The vocals are raw and edgy throughout, sounding almost screechy at times but always keeping that clean and engaging edge. As the track fades out and Questions kicks in, everything slows down once again. Opening purely with drums and building into a ballady guitar line, this track is one for the ladies out there! If you want a slow track to dance to, this is your track. Keeping things slower than before but retaining the power of the previous tracks, this is one which will really make you sit back and just listen, there’s something almost hypnotic about the way it’s written.
Home kicks in and once again picks the pace up, opening with a pounding drum line underpinning another soaring lead line which is bound to have the air guitar enthusiasts out there kept happy. Once again using raspy vocals, this track is another example of why this band is so awesome, their tracks are catchy and engaging throughout then leave you wanting some more. The simple riffs and almost bluesy sounds of this track are testament to just this, it’s quite possibly my favourite from the selection purely because it works on so many levels. As the track fades and Fakeness kicks in, the same sort of approach is continued, solid pace, solid riff and more of those awesome lead lines. Sounding almost like Van Halen at times purely down to the guitar and vocal combination, this track is bound to have people dancing along on the live scene – it’s the perfect combination of hard and soft, groove and funk, rock and downright sleazy sex.
I’m Falling is another slower track from the band, opening softly and adding in a lead line which is sure to have you wanting to be driving an American sports car over to pick up your girlfriend before going out for a drive. Soft, melodic and heartfelt, this track still packs a punch yet has a far more emotional edge to it which will hook you and make you think back over time – I found myself creating my own music video in my head to this track. Every element of this track combines to create the success that this track should be, the riffs work with the lead lines, the vocals work over the drums and they all combine to create a track which I guarantee you will visit time and time again. This is contrasted against final track Drugs & Angels, another track like the first. Fast, funky and fun from the outset, this is the sort of track I dream of seeing live purely because it’s so accessible and fun to listen to. Finishing the tracks on this one also achieve something else, I went back to the beginning and listened to them all over again!
Having heard all of the tracks here I am now a dedicated fan of Wasted Sinners, they’re the sort of band I secretly love thanks to seeing Motley Crue a few years back. They’ve got so many elements in their songs which will hook you in and make you want more – you need to hear them to understand just how awesome their music is! These guys have just shot to the top of my ‘to see live’ list and I can’t help but think I’m not going to be disappointed.
