What The Night Brings
Band - What The Night Brings
Album - Bound by Apathy
Grab your smoothie maker; cram in some August Burns Red, chop up Your Demise - shove it in ferociously, then take a pinch of Despised Icon, add a lot of your favourite poison and then sit back, and see what the night brings.
The first 30 seconds of a song will usually give me a clear indication of where this music is going…but in the quiet words of the Virgin Mary, come again?
This band have it all; riffs that make you want to fight your best friend in a pit, breakdowns that make you want to get up off your ass and go bonkers to, and that extra special ‘epic’ touch that makes you hang your head high. It also makes want to learn the words to those hardcore elements and sing along at shows.
Not a lot of bands can get away with mixing so many elements into one song, but when you do it so well that changes go unnoticed; your laughing! It appears that What The Night Brings have constructed the “best bits” of their influences and focused on bringing together all those favourite parts into one song. This way you’re never waiting for those one or two memorable moments. There is no need for skipping.
The production of Bound by Apathy is of a very high quality, and to find a suitable sound that is going to cover such a vast range of music styles proves to be difficult. It doesn’t quite stand out to me as a unique and original sound in its entirety, but I’m already looking forward to how that develops in the future.
As EP’s go, they are usually over before you can really get into them and with only 4 songs; I was disappointed that I had to get up to start the album again. It’s just a good job technology invented the repeat button then.
The vocals remain solid throughout, showing off a nice range, adaptable to many styles of their music including some interesting vocal patterns that are not so predictable and yet very likeable. They sit nicely in the mix alongside the gold blend of the axmen and hammers.
Having shared the stage with some big names such as Your Demise and Devil Sold His Soul, I don’t think it will be long before bands will be boasting about sharing the stage with WTNB. I am now most curious to know how well this band can perform live, especially if I was to go by this EP, so I will definitely be keeping an eye out for upcoming shows.

Thanks for the new music!
