White Clouds & Gunfire
Garry from SAN PR recently got in touch about White Clouds And Gunfire, a melodic rock crew who are due to be releasing their debut EP, Zero To Hero before hitting the road this October. Stating that it’s jam packed with a heady mix of blistering tunes meshed with rampant energy and fiery youth, this debut EP promises a lot before it’s begun – so I thought it only right to hit play to see what the music had to offer!
Opening with You Think You Know Me we’re immediately thrown into an upbeat melee of slamming guitar lines, pounding drums and melodic female vocals, the mix forming a sound akin to that of Paramore or the like, grabbing your attention from the off and showing that good old catchy punk rock is still alive and well. Catchy, melodic and upbeat throughout, this is the sort of track which is going to become a live favourite, and the sort of thing which is going to get people talking about the band, in short, it’s a great opening to the EP! Moving on to Satellite, the upbeat sound continues, this time forming into a bass heavy mix of upbeat guitar lines and syncopated drumming. Catchy doesn’t seem to do this track justice, the chorus immediately getting you singing along, moving along, and generating exactly the sort of buzz you would want from a punk rock style unit like this, the sort of feeling that is going to infect anyone that hears it. Another track which is sure to become a live favourite, this is a serious high point on the EP, and a track which I suggest you get out and check out!
Stand And Be The Hero marks a slight change in the progression of the EP, this time adopting a more serious approach to things and showing off a slightly heavier sound on the part of the guitar work in the background. Despite this more heavy and serious approach, the upbeat nature of the EP continues, once again incorporating catchy hooks into the sound and reminding us who it is we’re listening to. The female vocals which echo out over the backing track are quite simply serene on this track, there’s just something about the way they combine with the music to form a sound which is off heavy, yet still powerful enough to connect with fans of the heavier side of the spectrum. Closing with Turn Out The Lights there’s a further demonstration of the heavier side of the band, once again showing off the skills and musicianship found within the band to form a sound which is catchy, powerful and full of technical ability. Another track which stands out as a serious high point, this one promises to be one which gets the band some serious recognition, the sort of track which is going to go down well as a single with the potential to do very well indeed.
I really like the EP that White Clouds & Gunfire have come up with here, it’s almost like a showcase of their sound and a demonstration that they’re a band you need to be keeping an eye out for in the future. There’s moments which are melodic, moments which are upbeat, and moments which will renew your faith in female fronted pop punk rock – altogether leaving you with an EP which can simply be described as accomplished, and one to check out.
