Archers And Arrows
Yves from Archers And Arrows recently dropped us a line about their punk rock, hardcore and indie stylings, to see what we thought of things. Coming out of Switzerland, the guys dropped us a link to the video for their track ‘It’s So Cool, We Will Die All Together’, asking for us to let us know what we thought of things. Ever the helpful chap I can be at times, I figured I’d best hit play and see what was going on.
Billy Talent immediately sprang to mind as the track began, opening with a hard hitting vocal line, pummeling bass line, pounding drums and a roaring guitar track. The mix results in a sound which is both catchy and powerful, the sort of thing which you can sing along to whilst still managing to thrown down at the live show. The melodic edge to the track is clear throughout, keeping things musical as well as having that edge of attitude, resulting in something which is impossible to resist and showing that there is damned good music to be found in Switzerland….who knew?! What I particularly liked about this track was the accompanying video which shows the band playing in a garage – it seems to show off the personalities of the band as well as showing off their music, resulting in something which captures the band as a whole rather than simply their sound – which is rare to come across. The result – a track which has got me interested in this band, we’ve just got to get them over to the UK!
I didn’t know what to expect when I saw the description that the band offer up of themselves as simply, there’s a real mix going on there, but their sound is far beyond that. They’ve managed to take punk rock and combine it with indie, then add in a sense of hardcore to keep it heavier than you’d expect, so you end up with a powerful and exciting sound! This is a band to make sure you check out!
