Causes for good.
Since setting up Loud-Stuff.com we've been blown away by just how many bands there are out there doing good things for charity. As such, we figured it was only right we set up a page where you can share what you're doing with the world, to try and help gain greater support.
If you've got an event coming up and you would like us to feature it here, please get in touch with Dave on [email protected] and he'll be sure to help you out.

The Great Highland Challenge
In July 2012, Ian Doust intends to walk the length of the West Highland Way in Scotland, from Glasgow to Fort William, to raise money for Parkinsons UK and Cancer Research UK. Ian has very personal reasons for the walk having seen his mother suffer from Parkinsons disease, but rather than sitting back and not doing anything, he's set out to make a difference.
In his own words:
'To raise the money I intend to walk the length of the West Highland Way from Glasgow to Fort William. If by the time I reach Fort William I've managed to raise £500, I'll then pledge to carry on, and walk the length of the Great Glen Way to Inverness as well. That's a total of 175 miles. That's got to be worth sponsorship of a few quid! '
Now, to give you an idea of the distance we're talking here, below is a map which shows you the route that Ian is going to be taking on his walk - as you can see it's a fair old trek to undertake!

Now, whilst Ian has set out to complete this task in the name of charity, there are certain things he is still in need of. On his website HERE you can see a list of the equipment which he needs, but to give you an idea:
THE NEED LIST - Stuff which I really need to be able to complete this challenge: Lightweight Tent A decent roll mat Midge/Mosquito Net Water Carriers (Camel Back Carriers) Camping Stove Aluminium Wraparound Lightweight small shovel Further to this, he is of course asking people to donate as and where they can to help him raise some money for the charities he is supporting. |
Now, Ian is an old friend of Dave's, so needless to say, Dave is intending to help as much as possible. Therefore, we here at Loud-Stuff.com have decided to launch a competition.
COMPETITION To be in with a chance of winning a Loud-Stuff Hoodie (personalised with your name on it), a signed poster from the Circle of Rage boys, a copy of their album, a copy of the latest EP from Grindhouse and a stack of other CD's (minimum 8 others), simply either make a donation of what ever you can afford to Ian's cause HERE. OR - see if there's any equipment you might be able to provide him with from the list HERE We'll collect a list of all sponsors and donors off of Ian after the challenge and the winner will be drawn out of the hat from there! I know it's a lot to ask, but even if you can give £1 or $1 it's going to an amazing cause - so please, if you can help him out in anyway, we'll all be so grateful. Thank you. |
Kilimanjaro HikeJan Grant
We were recently contacted by Emma Grant who is about to embark on a hike up Kilimanjaro in aid of the fight against cancer. As Emma says:My main incentive for doing this is my nan, Janet Grant, she has had cancer twice and has bravely fought through it. Still wearing that amazing smile on her face and putting everyone else first.
When she was first diagnosed in 2006 no one knew what to do or how to manage the situation. Now my nan, even though she loves talking, was at first apprensive of sharing her true feelings with anyone. This is where Macmillan come in, they gave my nan the support needed for her to talk about it. They also were fantastic in providing her with information about how to live with the effects of cancer. It is not on the physical effects that need to be addressed but also the mental - Macmillian are aware of this and make sure that they listen, then help in the relevant area for each individual. My nan was pushed to both her limits. I know that hiking up Kilimanjaro can never be compared to what my nan or anyone who has suffered from cancer has gone through. I want to test my limits in the hope that I can raise a fantastic amount of money to help support the amazing work that Macmillan do so they can continue to help and support those brave people who have to live with cancer. I am sure that a vast majority of people who read this page can relate to this one way or another and I would encourage anyone to please make a donation so that Macmillian can continue to provide their support. Any donations to Emma and her cause would be gratefully recieved, and can be made HERE - as with the Highland Challenge, all sponsors will be entered into a draw to win a free Loud-Stuff hoodie customised with your name on it - so go on, give a little! |
