Chaos Divine
5 piece band from Perth formed in 2005, Chaos Divine are Simon Mitchell – Guitars, David Anderton – Vocals, Ryan Felton – Guitars, Ben Mazzarol – Drums and Michael Kruit – Bass.
Described as Progressive Heavy Rock.
Discography –
Ratio EP (2006)
Avalon (2009)
The Human Connection (2011)
I caught the guys at their show at Amps in Perth on 24th Aug.
Supporting Chaos Divine were Serial Killer Smile and Carthasy.
The capacity crowd and were well warmed up for the guys set. It was full on for the fans from the first note. It was one of those nights when Perth got to show off the homegrown talent. The audience included some familiar faces from the Perth music scene, always positive to see fellow musicians supporting local bands at their shows, it cements their respect for each other, and inspires a premium performance.
Their music has multiple audio highlights as their described genre suggests. With 2 lead guitarists, both skilled in their craft, they humbly entertain with their talent. The showman is David Anderton, strong and solid vocal performance consistent throughout the show. He dripped beer into the mouths of the crowd front stage and engaged with his audience naturally during the show. All of the band had a chance to shine musically, their songs are well known in Perth and the audience were impressed by the bands live performance. Chaos Divine fall into the heavier side of todays Prog Rock. The crowd demographic was diverse, but not teen. Suggesting a current more discerning musical fan base. The cover of Toto’s Africa has been well received, and with more exposure their fan base will increase and diversify further. If you are a metal fan and want some new material to enjoy, give this band a go. I don’t say that lightly, they have the quality musicians and an edge that makes them a joy to watch and hear.
