10 Questions we ask every band...
Echoes
|
1. What are the names of your members?
Echoes consists of Joshua Thurbin on Vocals, Karl Koch and Angus Cadden on Guitar, Steve Tolloczko on Bass and Oliver Todd on Drums 2. When did you all get together? We ended up getting together during University. The band was originally Echoes Forbid before Karl joined and was more Metalcore/Deathcore but after Karl joined and we saw Rinoa live we had a massive change of heart and decided that we wanted to make music to move people. 3.How did you all meet? As in the previous statement, we all met during University. We're in different years but it just so happened that we all played the right instruments and had a similar idea of what we wanted to make music-wise. We're extremely lucky actually. 4. How would you describe your music? We get put into a lot of different genres because people can't really figure us out. We're probably most often considered a Post-Metal band, but even then they're probably a lot heavier than we are. If you were to write it out as honestly as possible then we're probably an Ambient Post-Hardcore Metal band, but that's a bit of a mouthful! 5. Who are your major influences? It's hard to put a marker on who our biggest influences are. We never sit down, all listen to a record by Rinoa and say "let's try to make music that sounds like this" but I would say that Rinoa changed our perspective on how we write and how we perform. I guess we're mostly influenced by experiences, moment that have moved us emotionally. We're all massive fans of Hans Zimmer's score's as well as blues musicians and post-rock bands because they convey emotion like no metal band does. Obviously we do take influence from metal in some respects, but probably less so than you'd think. We're surprisingly heavy considering we don't really listen to metal much. 6. Complete the sentence: One day as a band we hope to… play Wembley Stadium with Journey... 7. Why should people listen to your music? You should listen to us if you want to be give the chance to experience something, if you want to feel something. We're out here to move people and show you that positivity can be as raw and emotive as negativity. Some people don't get us, they don't understand what we do and that's fine. We're here for that one fan that does, the one person who will sit there, listen to our album on repeat and still feel something every time, the one fan that'll see us live over and over and still get shivers. That's why we do it. 8. What are your plans for the upcoming year? We're going to be doing A LOT of touring this year, we're really trying to get ourselves out there because we've been so stuck in the south for so long. Our manager is incredible and he's really doing a lot to help get our name out there, We certainly wouldn't be where we are without him. It's looking as though those people in the north that didn't get to see us this time round will get there chance very soon! So keep an eye on that. We're also releasing our debut album soon but there's no dates floating round yet. 9. What albums/EP’s have you released so far and where can people get hold of them? We have a free EP with three tracks from the album available at http://www.echoesuk.com. Go grab a copy! In fact, you guys reviewed it not too long a go! 10. Finally – say something profound that will make everyone think: To be or not to be, that is the question... or something along those lines...echoesuk.bigcartel.com - Merch www.echoesuk.com - Website/Free Download www.facebook.com/echoesuk - Facebook |
