10 Questions we ask every band...
Edenshade
|
1). What are the names of your members?
Edenshade at the moment is me (Stefano Wosz, vocals, guitar and electrons), Giancarlo Belligoni (guitars and backing vocals), Simone Del Pivo (drums) and Daniele Tiberi (bass). Andrea Mastromarco helped with bass duties during the January UK tour. 2). When did you all get together? Only Daniele and I come from the original lineup of the band: before the recordings of "Stendhal Got That Close" (and the EP that came out as a preview) the band nearly broke up, with only myself (who formerly played just guitars) left. I wrote and recorded the EP and album with the help of friend and co-producer Enrico Tiberi and then, with the album out, I found the members to re-create a touring lineup. 3). How did you all meet? I play with Daniele since nearly the beginning of the band, more than ten years ago. When I needed to find other members to complete the lineup, I wanted someone who, before anything else, was a friend. So I just made a couple of calls to a couple of longtime friends asking "You know I just finished recording the new Edenshade album, do you want to tour with me and maybe record some new songs?" 4). How would you describe your music? Edenshade started out as a melodic death metal band with progressive metal influences and electronics. Now we progressively abandoned extreme influences and the more proggy parts, adding more electronics and trying to put more attention on melodies, riffs and groove. So I think that now we are a sort of modern metal band, with heavy riffs, lots of electronics and catchy melodies. 5). Who are your major influences? I think that we started as some sort of In Flames meets Dream Theater/Pain of Salvation, now we added more modern influences so that Nevermore, Korn and Slipknot/Stone Sour have their weight in our sound. 6). Complete the sentence: One day as a band we hope to... …to continue to be able to play music, record albums and play good live gigs. You know, we're all on our thirties and have days jobs, and we are disenchanted enough to know that it's very unlikely that we'll become rockstars: the music industry now it's very difficult and it's very hard to even to keep the band alive. After three albums and an EP, I just want to continue to be able to do my music and have someone who actually likes it that buys are albums and comes to see us live! 7). Why should people listen to your music? Because we have good riffs, good melodies and definitely good songs eheh. Jokes aside, I think that in three albums we have always managed to create intriguing patterns and songs, trying to write something new with each album, and in the meantime staying always true to our style even if the albums are so different between each other. One of the biggest compliment that I receive is that, even if our first album is so different from the second and from "Stendhal…", well, you can always say that it's an Edenshade album or an Edenshade song. 8). What are your plans for the upcoming year? We just came back from a first leg of tour in the UK, plans now are to do some gigs in Italy before the summer, and some summer festivals. In the meantime we'll start writing the new album and are already planning a second UK tour in October/November. 9). What albums/EP’s have you released so far and where can people get hold of them? "Cerami Placebo For A Faint Heart" (2003) - It's our debut album, out on Atrheia Records/Edel… I think it's out of print, but you can still find some copies in ebay or download it in the "usual" internet channels ehehe "The Lesson Betrayed" (2006) - It's out on My Kindom Music, it was distributed thorugh Code7 in the UK. Of course it's on iTunes too. "The Paper Days EP" (2009) and "Stendhal Got That Close" (2011) are out on Copro/PHD and they can be found easily (hopefully!) and of course in iTunes/Spotify or your preferred digital source. In www.facebook.com/edenshade you can listen to lots of previews and watch the video for the single "Need" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ce3nJFiUN0. Of course if you want to support the band even more you can buy albums and merch directly at our Facebook online Store http://on.fb.me/kooxx2 10). Finally – say something profound that will make everyone think: Well… I can try this, introducing one the concepts behind the songs of "Stendhal Got That Close" and the video of the single "Need". Have you ever studied the laws of electromagnetism? Do you know that the reality we know could be just a tiny sliver of a really complicate universe? Do you know that it could be possible, in theory, to travel through time? Google for time travel paradoxes to have an idea... Well imagine yourself studying all those kind of stuff, and finding yourself desperate, because you're losing someone you really love… what you will do? Would you really try to break the rules, risking everything, even reality itself, to save your relationship? |
