Go Inside, Light Fires
Deathcore and Plymouth aren’t usually two words which you hear in the sentence, but Go Inside, Light Fires are doing just that. Formed out of a friendship and a mutual love for music, James, Hon and Josh recruited Ashley and Dan to the band and set forth on the road to creating some music. The guys are still waiting to hear on a recent recording session, so they put us on to a recording and a live track which they’ve got available to hear on their Facebook page (and Youtube!).
Grizzly Anthem (Intro) pretty much sums this band up in 1:46, hammering onwards with rolling double bass, riffing guitars and gang vocals, all underpinned by a solid and sludgy bass line to keep a sense of depth. The sound is raw aggression, bottled for your consumption, and demonstrates that the metal scene is indeed still alive and well in Plymouth. Throwing in a break down to keep things on the heavy side of the spectrum, this is a band who have got a clear vision and just need to be supported to get out there some more, speaking to Jon they’ve been seriously let down by the studio they used and as such, need to sort things out – although it’s no fault of their own!
Confessions is another track available to hear on their facebook page, recorded live to capture the live essence of the band and demonstrating that these guys are going to be a serious force to be reckoned with on the scene. Guttural vocals, hammering riffs and rolling drums blast around you, grabbing your attention and forcing you to listen to what they’ve got on offer. Heavy, raw and aggressive throughout, this isn’t music to play when your Nan’s around for tea, but it’s the sort of thing which is going to give you one hell of an experience if you get out to see them. The guitar work roves from dark and heavy, to off clean and equally dark, adding in a sense of foreboding to stick to the genre they’re going for, it’s a tricky recipe which can often come across as cheesy but these guys seem to have made it work, and done it well.
It’s difficult to comment on the music too much here as the recordings are so rough, but Go Inside, Light Fires seem to be a band who can hammer out a well thought out track, perform well live and get the crowd firmly on their side. With the support of a good studio and a good producer the sky will be the limit for these guys, definitely a band to get out there and check out!
