Inmoria - UPDATE!
Inmoria are a band we have featured in the past. Due to a change in vocalist they have re-released a selection of tracks from their previous album. I took a look at the three tracks they have released and here’s what I thought.
The Mirror was the first track I took a look at. A well-constructed riff opens up proceedings. The menacing, heavy nature pushes you to the limit of all sanity. A haunting backing vocal supports the thunderous gut wrenching drum beat. After a short period of being punished by this medieval mixture the vocals kick in. In hope I anticipated a reprieve, however I was left in ruins as the vocals puncture deep into your soul. They complement the style of track superbly, leaving nothing to the imagination and going full throttle from start to finish.
The next two tracks are Blinded and In My Dreams. Just like the previous releases the riffs and hooks on show are relentless but more importantly flawless. If you are looking for a no holds barred rollercoaster then this is the band for you. The new vocals take things to the next level, demonstrating craft and the ability to adapt to and change the dynamics of a track. I listened to the same tracks before and after and both vocalists are immensely talented but it seems moving on was the right thing for both parties. In my eyes the guys have a vision and they are striving to get to where they want to be, I personally played these tracks over and over again, taking in the raw, yet pure vocals and thinking about what could be the next step for these guys.
To sum everything up in one go, the new vocals sound incredible. Beforehand I didn't think there was much room for improvement but I’ve been proven wrong and I’m damn glad about it. Look forward to hearing new material from then band and seeing them push on.

Inmoria
We were put onto Inmoria by their manageress Anna who suggested we have a listen to see what we think about their music. Cranking the album on and setting forth, this is some serious stuff to get your head around!
Opening with pounding drums and some epic riffs on the guitars, Blinded kicks the album into life. Roaring onwards with screams over laid above the guitars before kicking into some old skool metal style singing, this track immediately sets the par for the rest of the album. Continuing to offer up speedy riffs and those awesome drums throughout the track, these guys are obviously a band who know what they’re doing and know how to do it well! As the track fades and End Of The Line builds into existence, the same sound is evident once again. Opening by fading in before kicking in once again with those insanely heavy drums, this track continues the theme of the first track and makes it the bands own. Telling a story throughout with the vocal stylings, this track is another triumph on the album and one I suggest you look out for.
The Mirror slows things down somewhat from the previous tracks, opening with the same malice and venom as all of the others this one takes on a far slower, sludgier beat, powering the guitar lines forward whilst keeping those powerful vocals echoing over the backing music. The drums seem even more prevalent on this track for some reason, the mix they’ve managed to achieve is simply awesome. Keeping the slow and heavy beat as the theme throughout, this track strikes me as a true anthem, heavy, guitar laden and consistent throughout. As it fades though and Hear My Prayers kicks in the drums keep the same slowed down beat but this time the guitars take on more of a thrash approach to things, the synth still kicking around in the background forcing the listener to pay full attention from the second it begins. This track is more haunting in ways than the others, there’s something very dark and gothic about the approach they’ve taken here but once again, it works and sounds almost like Iced Earth at times. Powerful vocals kick the chorus into being and the whole track takes form fully – once again another track which I would recommend you get out there and have a listen to.
In My Dreams opens with plinky plonky childhood toy noises and a creepy voice before kicking into a much faster and almightily heavy section – these guys know how to write a track. Backing up the vocals with soaring guitar lines and those rolling and powerful drums once again, this track is everything I’ve come to expect from these guys, heavy, melodic and incredibly well put together, it’s testament to their song writing ability once again. Just Another Lie is another example of this, opening using the synth to full effect then kicking in with those distorted and heavy guitars, rolling drums powering the track down into your soul and forcing you to pay attention throughout. Somehow turning the gothic vocals and roaring guitars into a catchy tune, this is probably my favourite track on the album as it contains so many different elements which appeal to me – the guitars, bass and drums all back the vocals and make a sound which you cannot help but fall for straight away.
As if to create a bit of contrast in their music, The Silence Within Me opens up with a symphony of piano, choral vocals and soothing lead vocals, it’s as if the band have sat back and thought – right, let’s chill out for a second and show we can do quieter stuff. This contrast makes things all the more striking when the guitars suddenly kick in and the track powers back into the heavier side of things. Retaining the emotional edge whilst powering up, this track could well be considered the ballad of the album, but don’t expect it to be too soft! A highlight of this track is the lead guitar line half way through – it’s once again testament to how well these guys are able to play their instruments - awesome stuff. My Last Farewell seems to continue this theme, opening with synth effects before kicking in once again with the most awesome guitar riff I’ve heard in a long time, it’s powerful, rolling, melodic and very very crunchy – look out for this bit! The chorus of this track is also a particular highlight of the album, adopting the galloping pace once again and powering onwards through it creating a chorus which is certain to have live crowds singing along.
Save Me presents another contrast to the album at first, opening with a slick guitar line and some roaring vocals this track will have you sitting back and questioning whether there is anything these guys can’t do. Heavy yet once again melodic from the outset this is another live track in the making, there’s something about it which is certain to have live crowds circling around each other ripping the venue apart. Watch Me Bleed however opens in a true Dark Tranquility style, using the synth to power into the guitar line before opening up on all cylinders and powering forwards with things. The rolling drums and soaring guitar lines here really create a sound which is not only massively melodic but also once again really (and surprisingly) heavy. Before long you’ll be chanting along with the band and their cries to ‘watch me bleed’, all the time tapping your feet to the beat they’ve somehow managed to turn into one of the catchiest I’ve come across.
The final two tracks of the album, My Shadow Fall and Why seem to close the album off perfectly, the first opening where Watch Me Bleed left off the Why somehow soothing you after the pummelling you’ve just received. Finishing the album with some female vocals adds a further contrast to the album, making you sit back and really question why you’ve not come across these guys before. The whole package which you’re left with is one which you’ll want to come back to again and again, just to make sure you heard everything correctly first time around!
Inmoria are a band who should have been around several years ago, and would have been huge. Their difficulty right now is that the music they produce isn’t what a lot of people are listening to, and it’s a shame. That said, I personally believe music like this is going to make a come back in a big way, finding its way back onto massive stages and festival grounds. When this happens, Inmoria will be right at the front of the charge, leading the way for the other bands to follow. Do I like them I hear you ask….well….I’ve just written nearly 2 pages worth about their album, I’m not sure like covers it!
