Inside The Hole
We were recently contacted by Roy from Sicilian band, Inside The Hole. Formed in 2009 before fully taking shape in 2010, the guys hammer out Rock n Roll/Blues , fusing the musical experience of each of the different members of the group. They were good enough to send me through 3 tracks to check out, so I figured I’d better hit play and see what was going on!
Opening the selection with Beer! Sex!...and fuckin’ Roll, immediately the track gets us going and moving, launching into a hard hitting melee of hammering guitar lines, pounding drums, roving bass moments and soaring vocals. Somehow managing to combine the hard hitting approach of metal with the musical qualities of rock n’ roll, and then with the intricate musicianship of blues, the sound isn’t as simple as I had first thought, resulting in a track which is more complex than a hell of a lot of music I’ve come across before. Throw in a guitar solo of epic proportions and the resulting track is one which has really struck me, it’s quite incredible the sound these guys have achieved – definitely a band to get over to the UK!
Moving into I’ll Fight For Me, the theme of intricate moments continues, combining the different elements of the band once again to form a sound which is similar to rock n’ roll, but also fused with more aggression and power. Sounding akin to the stadium rock of the 80’s at some points, this track seems to showcase the different elements of the band, showing that they’re not a band to underestimate and instead, are going to be one to make sure you keep an eye out for. The retro sound continues throughout this track, marking the band as having a sound which somehow sounds familiar and yet new, it’s a clever mid and something which is going to stand these guys in good stead moving forwards.
Closing the selection with Love Me Baby there’s a final moment of sheer genius from the band, this time showing off their more blues style in a track which is going to get feet tapping, people nodding and venues pumping with their sound. Sounding more classic rock once again, this final track leaves me with no doubt that we need to get Inside The Hole over here, they’re a band that people need to hear. Personally, there was something about this track which made me think of summers days, sitting outside with a beer and having a good time with mates – this track would be the perfect accompaniment to those moments.
Inside The Hole have got one hell of a sound going on, somehow combining modern rock with a more old-school outlook on things, resulting in tracks which are easy to connect with and riffs which are going to get you strutting around the room. Sure, this isn’t the heaviest thing in the world, nor the most technically advanced, but at the same time does it need to be? When the music’s good and the band know what they’re doing, that’s all that matters – so hit play, sit back, and enjoy!
