10 Questions we ask every band...

1). What are the names of your members?
Nichlas “Kadaver” Håvik – Vocals Tommy “Helltroll” Rosenberg – Guitars Henrik “Canistrum” Handal Dørum - Drums 2). When did you all get together? The band was founded by me (Kadaver) along with our former bassist, Torstein “Likstein” Viksøy. After we had looked for a while for a drummer, we came in contact with Canistrum through a friend of ours. Later on we got ourselves a place to rehearse, and at the first rehearsal, Helltroll showed up and wanted to play with us. 3). How did you all meet? Well, how the current members met, is pretty much explained in the last question, but when it comes to me and Likstein, it was basically that we went to the same school for a while. 4). How would you describe your music? Our music is a form of melodic black metal, and a proof that all genres are evolving. Istårn is something that is rare, and to find completely similar music should be almost impossible (at least when it comes to our new stuff) seeing as we don’t necessarily follow a recipe. 5). Who are your major influences? Satyricon, Immortal, Enslaved.. all sorts of black metal bands, but we can’t say that we are not inspired by bands like Black Sabbath, Motörhead and Judas Priest, but the connection to them are far less direct. Helltroll is also inspired by old school rock, and Canistrum is listening to a lot of prog, like Dream Theater 6). Complete the sentence: One day as a band we hope to… Be the influence of a new generation of musicians. We also wish to do larger concerts for international crowds of course. 7). Why should people listen to your music? People should listen to our music if they like metal and if they are open minded. If they hate black metal, or metal in general, and are close minded about music, than we can’t really see why they would listen to us… Another thing is that we offer metal on something that we as a band think is a pretty good level. 8). What are your plans for the upcoming year? This year, we will release our debut album, and we will release a few other surprises ;) 9). What albums/EP’s have you released so far and where can people get hold of them? Last year, we released an EP, called “Downfall of the Gods”. The EP is available on iTunes, Spotify and a lot of other web based stores, and on the side of that, if you want to buy the CD, it is available in physical format at Apollon in Bergen, or you can contact us through our facebook page. 10). Finally – say something profound that will make everyone think: Music is an important part of people, and a lot of people’s lives, and what some people consider fantastic music, some people will always find bad, everyone can’t like everything. |
