Jaded
Jaded from Pembrokeshire got in touch with us through a
mutual friend and asked us to check out some of their tracks. Settling down, I
cranked on their tracks to see what I thought.
Nothing That I Need opens with clean guitars backed by some solid bass and a steady drum beat. As the guitar builds, the song grows with it bringing in layered vocals and continuing with that steady beat. Suddenly, the guitars change from clean to distorted and the track seems to find its footing, sounding like a classic track purely for the structure and the style the band have adopted.
Too Much To Lose starts of in this style as well, sounding almost Kula-Shaker-esque at first but building into the grungy rocky style of the band within seconds. As the track builds with vocals, bass and drums all layered behind the driving force of the guitars, the chorus kicks in once again adopting the catchy rhythm of before. I think this is probably my personal favourite track from the band as it seems to encapsulate everything I liked about rock when I first started listening to it, there’s some real classic sounds here.
Jaded starts off similar to the last track, building and bringing in different elements until it takes on a classic grunge/rock style. Listening to this I found myself thinking back to the days of Bush, Old Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam and the like, it’s a pleasure to hear this style of music being produced again, especially with a new take on it like Jaded seem to have done. The track pushes right up until the end, using the drums and guitars to back up the raspy vocals but adopting a catchy style throughout.
Jaded are one of those bands which I think have a real chance to succeed. They’ve got a solid footing in that they can write catchy tracks and can all play their instruments well. The end result is three tracks of pure grungy rocky enjoyment! I for one will be looking forward to the results of their doing some recording and seeing what the band come up with next.
