James Younger - Monday Morning
We were recently sent through details of James Younger, a British born guitarist and song writer who hit the US at the age of 21, and hasn’t looked back since. We were sent through his new single, Monday Morning, to check out, with the promise of it being a very strong, hook laden slice of US-tinged rock – which sounds pretty cool to me! Going on to say that we should look out for influences such as The Strokes and White Stripes, I was looking forward to checking out what was in store, so hit play to check things out for myself.
Opening upbeat and jumpy, this track immediately sets an upbeat tone and launches you into a world of funky guitar work, pounding rhythm sections and vocals designed to get you moving and singing along. This is easy going rock at its best, drawing influence from the likes of The Strokes and forming a sound which some may call indie, whilst others may just see it as pop orientated rock. There’s nothing over the top here, nothing offensive, simply a track which is going to reignite that love you hold for proper rock music, music with feeling, and music which is going to be damned good to hear on the live scene – certainly a winning track in my eyes.
What I like about James Younger and this track is that it’s easy going, it’s easy to listen to, and it’s the sort of thing that is going to get airplay on radio and TV without any worries at all. This isn’t heavy or in your face, it’s easy going and light, the sort of thing which is ideal for a sunny day, the sort of thing which is going to help the beers go down, and the sort of thing which is going to get new fans into the world of rock.
Make sure you check this out for yourself below!
