Kafka
Well there's not a lot I can tell you about these guys as they seem to be the North Korea of the music world (Secretive, not nuclear). What I can tell you is that they are from the UK and are throwing out some hardcore metal riffs.
Route To Fire throws you into a world of darkness as soon as the first beat hits your eardrum. Soaring, screaming vocals fill the room unwilling to let you breath. With the introduction of the heavy, psychotic guitar riff and bone crunching drum beat all you are left with is a concoction of evil. Despite hurtling along at a relentless pace, the mid-section slows down allowing you to appreciate the awesome guitar riffs and the heavy hitting drums which often go unnoticed. The roaring vocals re-enter the frame to draw the track to a close.
A menacing, dark, rolling drum beat accompanied by an eerie distorted guitar note, ringing in the background starts off And We Have Arrived. The suspense builds before the devilish guitar riff kicks in supported aptly by the solid, roaring vocals. The tempo to this track is not as relentless as the first track, however, the variation shown works well, often swapping between a faster and then a slower tempo. The riffs are consistent and the beats are fresh and heavy, all contributing towards a well-constructed track.
City Of Vines was the last track I listened to. There’s no holding back with this track. The vocals, guitar riffs and drum beats are thrown in at the same time. The combination of all three makes it a devastatingly heavy start. The pace is frantic, grabbing hold of you from the first second and not relinquishing its grasp on you until the very last second. Once again I liked the variation with the tempo changes it still managing to hold the heavy, dark presence. As expected the riffs are solid and purposeful and the drums beats hit home, bruising the inner core.
If you like heavy, soul crushing riffs and soaring vocals, this band is definitely for you. Would like to hear more from these guys, as always there’s always room for improvement, but the foundations are certainly in place for big things.
