10 Questions we ask every band...
Lazarus Syndrome
|
1). What are the names of your members?
Hello, we are Pete, Jamie, Mike, Dave and Tom! 2). When did you all get together? Jamie and Mike met up around January in 2011 and discussed starting the band. The idea was to play music that they liked listening to but with their own touches. Dave was then recruited to start putting drums to the songs and work on writing material. Pete and Tom joined the band in around March. As soon as we heard Pete, we knew he was the singer for us and Tom is a fantastic bass player adding his own touch to the sound. 3). How did you all meet? Jamie and Mike actually met through a music website. Dave was a friend of a friend of Mike’s, another drummer! Pete was put in touch with us through Simon who now does our artwork and website for us! And Tom lives with Mike’s workmates. 4). How would you describe your music? This is always a difficult question to answer. Simply put, it’s loud and heavy with a melodic touch. Often described as Melodic Death Metal, but we feel this doesn’t really do us justice. We never go out of our way to write anything particularly ‘death metal’. We want it to be heavy of course, but we’ll happily sacrifice a blast beat for a nice melody or harmony with some singing vocals. Pete’s voice is unique to say the least! 5). Who are your major influences? Major influences vary from anything like Eric Clapton (Mike) to Scar Symmetry, Soilwork, Threat Signal, that sort of stuff, to more mellow stuff like Katatonia. There is also stuff like Slash, Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains. We basically listen to as much as we can and write what we would like to hear. 6). Complete the sentence: One day as a band we hope to… Go as far as we possibly can. We’re very keen musicians and we love doing what we do. As long as people want to see us we will play anywhere to anyone. We would love to play the summer festivals and take our music on tour as far and wide as we can get. Obviously we need people’s support to do this, so please listen to our music and come see us live! 7). Why should people listen to your music? When everything that comes out seems to be extreme metal, bands playing as fast and noisily as they can, we provide something different. If you like your music to still be heavy, but something you can headbang, mosh and sing along to then check us out. If you like metal, but also love melody than give us a listen. 8). What are your plans for the upcoming year? We plan to play as many gigs as we can and sort out some tours. We’re already booked on some festivals which is pretty cool. The main thing we also intend to do is record our first album. We’re hoping that this will be done sometime over the summer. We’re in the writing stages for it at the moment. Most of the songs are done, but we need to finalise a few more so we can blow you all away! 9). What albums/EP’s have you released so far and where can people get hold of them? So far we have our debut EP ‘Flatline’ which you can check out on Spotify, iTunes or Amazon Mp3. You can also pick up a physical copy from us at one of our gigs, or order one from us. All details are on our website www.lazarus-syndrome.com 10). Finally – say something profound that will make everyone think: What is life without music? Empty and void. So keep supporting all forms of music! |
