2012 Review - Mel
2012 Loud Stuff Year in Review
Since teaming up with Loud Stuff this year has been a series of one exciting development after another.
Initially I spent my time at Local Perth venues gaging the live music scene covering all genres. Exposing several less known Perth bands to the international scene. This very quickly escalated to reviewing National Bands that visited Perth or just wanted more exposure via interviews or album releases. I began my association with Australian Musician Network in January and this led to more opportunity’s to explore the national and international Music scene. With the exclusion of a few AMN Exclusives I have been able to share the reviews and interviews with Loud Stuff throughout the year. During this time I have had to learn more and more about the business side of music and what that means to artists at every level of their achievement. Because I my age I am able to relate to the changes in the industry over the last 3 decades and how those changes impact on solo artists, bands and anyone in the industry.
I feel privileged to have met so many industry professionals in all areas of the music industry, they are a committed talented group of which some have become firm friends.
There have been many stand out moments for me, Perth band Emperors just won the US iTunes Rock Song of the Year 2012, with their Single ‘Be Ready When I Say Go’ I have reviewed this band several times this year and I am extremely proud of their achievement.
2013 promises to be another exciting year for Loud Stuff and myself, I have a radio show over here in Australia, CRANKED, that will continue to play more of the tracks that don’t make it to the mainstream commercial radio. I’m headed back to England in July to touch base with the scene over there. Festivals and gigs already booked in throughout the year so we can bring you up to date news on bands and venues that are worth your time and money.
Thank you for the support and CHEERS!!
