Motion Empire
We were recently contacted by Motion Empire, a 3 piece alternative rock/indie band from Chester who are due to release their new single, I’ll Find You, on the 3rd of December. Given that the chaps were kind enough to whack us over a link to check it out before the release, I figured the least we could would be to post a review up for them, just so you know what to expect from the upcoming track!
As the track begins we’re launched into a Placebo like sound, a sound which hooks you in with soaring vocals and upbeat guitars and keeps you listening for the duration of the track. What I really like here is that the track is unassuming, it’s not over the top or taken too far but instead, well balanced and easy to get into. Sounding like a hybrid of Placebo with grunge style stuff thrown in for good measure, there’s something about this track which sounds familiar as it builds around you, yet at the same time it manages to still offer up a sound which Motion Empire will be able to call their own. Add a catchy chorus into the mix and what you’re left with is a track that sets these guys up as a band to keep an eye on, and a band with a heck of a future ahead of them from what I can see.
I’m not sure I agree with Motion Empire’s tag of alternative rock/indie, but I see where they’re coming from with it. Personally, I just think there’s more to it than a simplistic tag, and feel that when we hear more from these guys we’re going to be shown yet another side to be aware of. Whatever the case, the track they’ve put together with I’ll Find You is powerful, upbeat and catchy from start to finish – so there’s really nothing to complain about! Definitely a band to be getting out and checking out, highly recommended.
