10 Questions we ask every band...
Not Above Evil
|
1). What are the names of your members?
Daniel Mucs - Drums, David Gwynn - Guitar, Damien Levette - Guitar, Sideeq Mohammed - Bass and Vocals 2). When did you all get together? Dan, Dave and Sideeq got together in Autumn 2009 and we picked up a guitarist called David Horton. He quit about a year later and we managed to get Damien on board around Summer 2011! 3). How did you all meet? A friend started talking to Dan in a pub, no doubt due to his epicly metal appearance and/or talking about music. He wanted to start a band behind the kit playing prog metal. Said friend put him in contact with Dave who was more bothered about doing something like Mastodon and Lamb of God. They then found Sideeq on the internet who was into his speed/thrash metal, and when we found Damien it was again... on the internet! 4). How would you describe your music? A melting pot of modern and classic metal. The vocals and some of the riffs give it a black/death metal tinge, but melodies feature largely throughout as well as strong elements of Thrash, Sludge, Prog and Groove metal. 5). Who are your major influences? Metallica, Mastodon, Lamb of God, Children of Bodom, Sylosis, Iron Maiden, Pantera and Opeth. 6). Complete the sentence: One day as a band we hope to… Support some of our heroes that inspired us to play metal. 7). Why should people listen to your music? If you like progressive song structures, killer melodies and riffs and ear lacerating vocals then you might want to give us a spin. The sheer number of influences we have between the 4 of us mean we're never short of ideas. 8). What are your plans for the upcoming year? We intend to promote our newest disc "The Transcendental Signified" by playing gigs across the country and hopefully landing a few festival slots come the summer. Building the machine basically. 9). What albums/EP’s have you released so far and where can people get hold of them? We have a self titled EP, "Deification" LP and "The Transcendental Signified". The last 2 are available on iTunes/Amazon and from our bigcartel store for the physical copy. http://notaboveevil.bigcartel.com/ You can also stream the newest disc for free at http://notaboveevil.bandcamp.com/ 10). Finally – say something profound that will make everyone think: As we're all a bunch of geeks so try this one: What is half the temperature of zero degrees centigrade? Want to hear more?
