10 Questions we ask every band...
Orestea
|
1). What are the names of your members?
Lisa Avon – Vocals Lloyd Wilson – Guitar Jake Parvin - Guitar Mike Quinn – Bass Jack Slade - Drums 2). When did you all get together? The band started in 2009 but we only finalised the current lineup earlier this year. 3). How did you all meet? Myself (Lisa) and Lloyd have known each other since we were about 13 years old, and played in various bands together whilst we were at school. We then moved to Guildford to study and met our bassist Mike there. Jack was someone that I knew through various other bands that he had played for, and when we lost our previous drummer Will we all agreed that Jack was our first choice as a replacement. We were lucky that he was the first person to submit an application too! It was obviously fate! We worked with a stand in guitarist for most of 2012 but in summer Jack introduced us to his friend Jake…who turned out to be the perfect guitarist for us! 4). How would you describe your music? Metal, with a bit of rock, and occasional proggy moments thrown in for good measure. Topped off with a whole lot of melody. 5). Who are your major influences? We all draw influences from different places, but a few “common denominators” are Periphery, Sevendust, Coheed & Cambria, Dream Theater, Stone Sour & Circa Survive. 6). Complete the sentence: One day as a band we hope to… “…have played a show in every continent” It’d be so great to travel the world doing what we love best! 7). Why should people listen to your music? Hopefully because they want to! Haha. But seriously, we put a lot of heart into this and we really feel like there is something for everyone to enjoy in out songs. 8). What are your plans for the upcoming year? Touring and Recording our second album. 9). What albums/EP’s have you released so far and where can people get hold ofthem? Our most recent E.P is ‘This Is An Overture’ (2012). Before that we released ‘Love Lines & Blood Ties (2010) and we started out with a demo E.P called ‘Shadows Of Yesterday’ (2009). All of our CD’s are available on Spotify, iTunes and from http://orestea.bigcartel.com. 10). Finally – say something profound that will make everyone think: “Opportunity is missed by most because it’s dressed in overalls and looks like work.” I read that somewhere once, I think it might have been in one of those little diaries from WHsmiths. It made me giggle! To find out more about Orestea, check out their Facebook page HERE. |
