Saint Diablo
Harrison from Rive Video Promotion is always good at putting us onto new bands and things we need to be checking out, so when he dropped us a line about the new video from Saint Diablo for Watch Me Kill, I knew that this was something I should be checking out. Whilst doing my research into the band there was one key point which I couldn’t help but notice – the band are endorsed by the one, the only, the mighty Jagermeister – so I figured that this was something I had to check out for myself, hit play on the video and cranked the volume up as high as it would go.
Hammering onwards from the very start of things, the guitar and drum combo leads the way into the track, accompanied by chanted vocals before the whole mix breaks and chaos is unleashed. Powerful rhythms combine with hard hitting guitar lines, powerful vocals and a real sense of grooviness, it’s one of those sounds which you know is going to get pits of the biggest possible scale moving all across the venue. Combining the heavy guitar work with roaring vocals, rumbling bass and hammering drum lines, the track seems to grow around you, each moment coming as a new smash to the head but the whole time, making you thank them for the honour of hearing what they’ve got on offer. It’s interesting that the singer’s wearing a Soulfly t-shirt in the video as, to me, I thought the sound on offer here sounded a lot like the more raw and powerful Soulfly stuff, the sort of thing that Max would be proud to call his own, and the sort of thing which you know is going to push these guys into the spotlight once people hook onto it.
I’ve loved what I’ve heard from Saint Diablo here, and am thinking that I need to get out to hear some more as soon as I can. If you like your metal raw, powerful and with a hint of tribal style stuff then this is for you – definitely a band you need to be getting out there and checking out.
