All Funned Up
Words by Charlotte Whittingham
Chicago pop rockers Super Happy Fun Club prove writing new music is just the cure to get through rough times. They are set to be touring with hometown friends Madina Lake this autumn.
Who Drank My Beer? is the super happy fun way to kick off this lively album with genuinely written tracks consisting of real life experiences and beautiful pop rock style piano riffs that send your heart racing. It is the perfect album for your summer soundtrack, festival type anthems such Okay Okay and Enemy I can imagine being sung along amongst the crowds. The choirs in the background remind me of crowd chants and make the songs just a little bit more epic.
Speaking of epic, I have recently started to list one word tracks that are just epic. Along with Alter Bridge’s Blackbird and Biffy Clyro’s Mountains, Blinders has joined this list with it’s festival crowd like chants and original tune. Other amazing tracks on the album include Final Distraction, Good Year and Angels Cry; Angels Cry made me well up so I wonder what a live performance of the song will do and heartfelt Good Year will be a New Years Eve anthem.
One of the notes I made whilst listening to this album is that it feels the most genuine out of all the albums I have listened to this year, reading about what they went through after the release of their first album it is incredible they come back on their feet with this glowing gem.
I am very excited about this band; it is most certainly on my list for albums of 2013. Be sure to catch them on tour with Madina Lake in the UK this autumn. See tour dates below. In the meantime I highly recommend purchasing this album.
R.I.Y.L: Shinedown and Biffy Clyro
